greensh··on EU Council forces Chat Control via fast-track
Also the democratic systems like Germany are not known for their pro people / worker law decisions, the opposite actually in the last couple of years.

This Democracy does not equal "what people want". It's a system designed to make people feel like they have the power for change. Knowing that, many people just vote to stop the far-right party from gaining power.

The EU similarly is working as designed. It's a symbiosis between State and Capital and in hard times it has to regulate peoples rights in order to maintain stability. Or in this case open the door to stop anti-state/EU propaganda.

I'm not against Democracy, just want to lay out it's limitations as it is applied.

Deeper pockets mean less regulations apply to you though. You have better lawyers and lobby.

greensh··on Critics say EU risks ceding control of its tech laws under U.S. pressure
You right. Market competition makes this situation a prisonors dilemna. Under capitalism this problem will persist.

The EU is not doing anything near enough against global warming.

But USA can't even be on the side of their own people. I can see the recent ICE shooting, health care issues, clearly corrupt government officials. Why should anybody trust them with another country?

Also the US has massive protests aswell, would it be okay for china to liberate the USA, since china itself is lead by a "democratic party"? They could argue the USA isn't a real liberal democracy.

> why not let them vote in fair elections? Elections can be faked, people can be mislead, oppositions and media can be bought.

greensh··on Go away Python
thanks for sharing. Marketing seems frustrating to me for an open source project. I had similar issues with python in the past and i wish I knew about this project back then.
greensh··on Go away Python
sounds awesome. Just out of interest, why do you think pyflow didn't catch on, but UV did?

> In the long run we are all dead. Economists set themselves too easy, too useless a task if in tempestuous seasons they can only tell us that when the storm is past the ocean is flat again.

J. Keynes

He was specifically criticising this "the market will regulate itself after a while" attitude. Nice for you to have a big enough safety net, bot not everybody does.

I can see that some verification is necessary. However i still think stuff that I can't be reprogramm should be heavily regulated. I want it to be kept at minimum.

Samsung already installs very suspicious auto updating, can't be removed without root, apps and ads. This is the natural consequence of locking out the users capabilities. If you want to get rid of them completely, youd have to root it, breaking compatibility with banking apps. Thats the world you are rooting for.

1. if your government decides google has to put spyware on your phone, you wont be able to remove it, unless your device is reprogramnable.

It's actually the other way around, the only way to garantue that your device is free of spyware is you reprogramming it. You shouldn't have to trust the potentially compromised manufacturer.

i mean this protocol does exist with RCS. In fact if you use your SMS client it probably defaults to RCS if you have an Internet connection.

also this seems a really entitled take to say, "there is no homelessness" when there clearly is.

what advantage does gitlolite over gitea? If i wanted to replace GitHub my intuition would be to replace it with gitea. It seems to have similar interface, pull requests, workers etc to gh.

Thanks. I guess this means for Benchmarks they didn't use it. I find it fascinating and admire your dedication to fixing and improving those models.
greensh··on Phi-4 Bug Fixes
Microsoft developed and trained Phi-4. How can there be bugs in their official implementation? Does this mean they trained und evaluated it on their own completly different code and then ported it to the huggingface library for compatibility?

greensh··on How America's universities became debt factories
No, with high student loans, you are not supporting high talents; you are supporting the rich only. You are obstructing a lot of potential that poor students might have realized if they could have afforded it. It's not about banning universities; it's about broadening accessibility. Schools are state-funded for the same reason.

greensh··on Writing about what you learn pushes you to understand topics better
Sometimes I learn something and think I understand it. But when writing about it (without looking it up again) or teaching it to someone, I often find gaps.

I can fill this gaps by reading it again or looking up another source.

I like to think this method of filling the gaps is faster then just reading the material again, because it forces me to recall it first and therefore sticks in my memory longer.

greensh··on Pirate site not impressed by Global DNS blocking order
