> I would never trust someone who lacks the fundamentals to create value even with the most advanced tools.

Although I feel the value of what you're saying, I don't feel that's the mindset in the whole world.

I live in a LATAM country and I have worked for both EU (which outsourced most of the workforce, usually keeping the architects and rotating the devs (PS: pre-agentic coding)), US and now US with LATAM intermediator.

Every single one of them treated blattantly different less senior and low paid workers. EU treated so well their EU employees that even outsourced workers could actually feel as real human beings.

The US (startup) one was extremely crushing, I feel seniors were rewarded, what I take from your "the implicit premium", true, but with so much damn pressure. The only senior I saw departed was out of exhaustion, a team from 10 engineers reduced to 4 or 5, don't remember exactly.

While LATAM people is just awful. The slavery mindset is always dormant. Keep pushing, replace when exhausted, hire a whole new crew of low-paid people and push them to burn-out, that's true on small businesses and giant banks. I remember I once trained 3 interns in a pre-agentic setting, I had to push for 2 whole years so that one of the well trained, extremely dedicated and intelligent guy got hired. And he was hired only after a YEAR that the other one had been hired by a larger company. After I was gone, they kept me around consulting just some hours a week and refused to replace even the "half" me. And then I was gone. Only after some months of my departure they really hired the intelligent dude I've mentioned before and for at least a year and a half they coudln't find a replacement for the almost-slave as I was because the intelligent dude probably was starting to get used with agentic coding with a fifth of our total salaries. I haven't heard of that so far.

yeah, fair on that point, that makes doing Sloppy SAAS really more accessible and that's what we're seeing

On the other hand, what I see happening is:

0. corporation use AI plan ultra-X-high-pro-premium-enterprise

1. corporations firing medium-high paid developers with solid experience and experstise because low-medium paid developers are performing well with ultra-X-high-pro-premium-enterprise plan

2. AI models evolves and now there's a 10X ultra-X-high-pro-premium-enterprise that keeps up the pace

3. low to medium paid are now struggling. The company hires low-paid developers to use more the original AI plan

4. refuses to pay best AI or decrease pressure on developers

5. developers are forced to wake up early, work afterhours and these shenanigans so that they keep up with the pressure

6. corporation pays for the 10X ultra-X-high-pro-premium-enterprise

green_dee··on Premature Abstraction
So interfaces > modelling

ConsoleLogger is a Logger because they share a method (log), PaidUser and User can have some common things, but I don't think it's only in the way it behaves, but also in the way you contact/use them

green_dee··on Brain-Health Benefits of Weightlifting
Nothing will never be better than heavy barbell squats, but if variation is needed there's also (in this order) split squats and front squats to try.

The only exception is low-bar/leg disability, then I think it might be better to keep it bodyweight and machine oriented (such as leg press).

green_dee··on Brain-Health Benefits of Weightlifting
I don't think bodyweight training is relatively easier get into neither to perform.

I really enjoy bodyweight movements and I include them in my routine, mainly splits squats, pushups, pull ups and abs, but I still think one of the best things you can do to yourself is trying to get over what you call "hassle of going to the gym".

If done properly, the gym will teach you periodization and allow you to: - practice different repetition patterns - you can't perform useful 6's, 10's and 15's if you can't change the (body)weight variable - you can't perform useful < 15reps (for strength or hypertrophy) if you can do 100 repetitions of it (like abs or pushups) - want to work the delts? Just get into a rack and press the bar up, get a minimum weight dumbbell and do some raises, facepull a rope. Now try it in bodyweight movements. - form a habit (you have to go to the gym, if you hate exercises, being at home will just be a "I will a do pushup and it's over).

It's always about preferences, but honestly, I find that creating and maintaining a bodyweight workout routine will always be harder and a last-case option compared to the gym.

nothing is better than vanilla javascript "props" object with no documentation, several non-consistent key calls and spaghetti code.
green_dee··on Food labels and the lies they tell us about ‘best before’ expiration dates (2021)
Yeah I was going to say the same. Fungi species can grow real deep, large and invisible to our senses. I understand people ITT getting offended on throwing out food with parts rotten, but honestly if it's not an exception such as banana I will probably throw out the entire piece (like bread) if there is any part rot at all.

green_dee··on AI computing is on pace to consume more energy than India
Crypto energy demand for decentralized payment systems = bad

Government aligned AI companies demanding high energy = okay

Honestly, now I question if crypto was the sole guilty to GPU prices raise or it was the AI scapegoat

green_dee··on Should we normalize ephemeral businesses?
I would engage in a(n) {name you want} that does not deliver money to its investors.

But I would not buy even a share of {name you want} if it does not deliver profit to its shareholders.

green_dee··on Automated data analysis for the prevention of criminal acts is unconstitutional
Well, every model has its errors, and intrusive criminal "prevention" is self-fulfilling.

Just imagine, everyday 6AM an officer come at your door to check your apartment "to prevent" your crimes, suddenly every random guy in the street looks suspicious and spying on you, then some officers just randomly walks by your workplace, police stop you everytime you travel... This would eventually lead to an insult to the mafia guy and then boom you have already commited contumacy and the model was right! You are a criminal and you should be punished!

green_dee··on A native internet protocol for social media
The perceived "availability" that social networks nowadays show people about us is just annoying.

The pressure created to answer if you're online, or people knowing that you know something so you MUST answer them if they ask you is just painful
