graphitezepp··on The Myth of 'Learning Styles'
Great point, I would have never considered that myself since I never took the concept personally.
graphitezepp··on Spotify opens on NYSE, valuing company at almost $30B
I doubt the need to poach the people, just the strategy itself. Would likely be better to find people used to managing bands, or doing whichever relevant recording company position, at a high level I would suspect
graphitezepp··on The Dirty Secret of ‘Secret Family Recipes’
I find it amusing you downplay the importance (not that I disagree) of precision, and than advocate for measuring by weight for entirely different reasons. Precision is the typical argument people make for scales.
graphitezepp··on The Poison We Pick
The appeal of fiction has never changed and been around. Availability and the volume people consume has changed drastically.
graphitezepp··on Why is it hard to make friends over 30? (2012)
Off topic, but I'm freshly out of the closest and terrified of the future of my social life without the typical social framework I observe in older couples. Really heartening to know you feel this way.
graphitezepp··on The Curiously Elastic Limits of Endurance
I don't agree with this sentiment, but I came to swimming from a swimming background. Maybe I just had the form down when I was so young I only ever had to think about the effort.
graphitezepp··on 2017 was probably the best year in the history of humanity
I probably shouldn't be so negative. But on the other hand I think its important to not get too caught up in celebrating our success and pay attention to what we lose to what is generally considered progress. Their are clear social problems that come from the nature of our technologically advanced society that need acknowledged.
graphitezepp··on 2017 was probably the best year in the history of humanity
Increasing teen suicide rate, skyrocketing expenses going towards mental health resources ...
graphitezepp··on Boosting teeth’s healing ability by mobilizing stem cells in dental pulp
I had 13 teeth taken out total when my wisdoms got taken out.
graphitezepp··on Tech Start-Up Fires Engineers Amid Union Organizing Effort
I feel the need to address the Dustforce comment (I agree). Didn't notice parents name until you blindsided me with the reference!
graphitezepp··on A man accused of cheating at video games may lose his Guinness World Record
This video stands by itself for all you need to know about the situation. It is pretty clear cut that this Rogers guy 'scum bagged' his way to his prominence when gaming was in a quite less developed state.
graphitezepp··on Making Sense of Super Smash Bros. Melee
I play the game (obsessively) and I still didn't it was going to about smash.
graphitezepp··on My new favorite book of all time
This is a short explanation of why I am not financially ambitious.
graphitezepp··on TV, retail, advertising and cascading collapses
People worrying about paper waste has become a pet peeve of mine. Get your plastic use down first please.
graphitezepp··on Mothers who regret having children are speaking out
I agree completely with the outrage being a product of people propping up denial of their own dissatisfaction with their decisions. Though I am biased having gone through the homophobic denial thing myself, it seems to be a very common pattern, and can only really only be addressed by society not signally so strongly that everyone "should" be a certain way.
graphitezepp··on Improving Ourselves to Death
I could write this out word for word and it would be true for me as well. Generally, I think interacting with self help stuff is bad and can lead to being overly self critical. But when you take a hard look at your self and truly acknowledge that you aren't being who you feel like you are, what else is there to do?
graphitezepp··on Birth Order Effects Exist and Are Strong
Another example, having older brothers is one of the most consistent correlations with homosexuality for males. Birth order effects are absolutely visible.
graphitezepp··on Teens Aren’t Partying Anymore
Kids are missing out on developmental milestones, I know I did. It doesn't have to be parties. The just hanging out thing is down too according to the article. Many people are leaving their teen years far too sheltered and socially underdeveloped, because indulging in endless digital distraction takes up more and more of our time as a society.
graphitezepp··on Tesla Model 3 Sets New EV Cannonball Run Record
Musk DOES have a lot of support. I personally suspect much of the negativity comes from backlash caused by him having a legion of fanboys. Whenever someone gets idolized like I have often seen Musk as, haters come out in reaction.
graphitezepp··on Silicon Valley Is Sneaking Models into This Year’s Holiday Parties
This would actually freak me out, I would probably need to leave immediately once I understood what was happening.
graphitezepp··on Google's AlphaZero Beats Stockfish In 100-Game Match
I always believed that one of the core issues with Starcraft is considered to be that it is not a perfect information game (in addition to inherent complexity). Having to deal with learning how the opponent plays, and basically guess and make inferences about what they are doing, is somewhat new territory.
graphitezepp··on Board games are back, thanks to lessons designers learned from computer games
How is that ever avoided though? I can not imagine a game where any amount of experience is not an advantage, where the game also has sufficient depth to be interesting.
graphitezepp··on Blue-collar wages are surging. Can it last?
I really would like to see red shifted lighting + use of flux (or similar) on all devices compared in efficacy to more extreme no lighting what so ever. I personally have no felt a difference but I am wary of that being wishful thinking on my part as I don't want to cut out computer use.
graphitezepp··on How to Get Rich Playing Video Games Online
Yes, they are that alone. Kids these days don't always have such hot social lives.
graphitezepp··on As epidemic rages, ER study finds opioids no better than Advil and Tylenol
People don't even like to call it a drug, which severely bothers me to be honest. I've tried some things and alcohol, from my perspective, is one of the more dangerous drugs around
graphitezepp··on Almost everything on computers is perceptually slower than it was in 1983
Everything is much closer together, you don't have to move your hand only your fingers. It is clearly the better input device for pure digit sequences.
graphitezepp··on Logitech announces a development kit for using keyboards in virtual reality
You stopped to eat instead of playing through meals? That's impressive. Were you able to sleep at all?
graphitezepp··on 'Big Void' Identified in Khufu's Great Pyramid at Giza
I could really go for some hope and would very much like to do something of that nature, but it's hard to figure out where my skills are best allocated.

As for the pay I am very difficult to motivate with money beyond what makes for housing and food security.

graphitezepp··on 'Big Void' Identified in Khufu's Great Pyramid at Giza
Yeah but I am pretty worried about us fucking it up these days.
graphitezepp··on Dead People Mysteriously Support the FCC's Attack on Net Neutrality
Teen suicide is trending the wrong way which is my main argument.
