Kidding aside, I'm excited to see interesting uses of Nest's API in the near future.

granttimmerman··on Massively multiplayer online Flappy Bird
If you look at the source which is only ~200 SLOCs, it's just written in vanilla js for the canvas and Websocket which receives a simple arrayBuffer binaryType.
granttimmerman··on I've made an open source flappy bird clone
I'm currently making a clone as well. Expect it to be out in a week: https://github.com/grant/flappy-frog

granttimmerman··on Google to Acquire Nest
Well, I guess that's one reason/excuse why Nest turned me down a summer internship when I applied last November.
granttimmerman··on Dell Wasn't Joking About That 28-Inch Sub-$1000 4K Monitor; It's Only $699
I have a 39in 4k monitor that I bought for $500. The only problem is that 4k monitors through HDMI can only run at 30Hz, which is extremely noticeable. There might be a way to run at 60Hz but I haven't got it to work yet. Here's the monitor: http://www.amazon.com/Seiki-Digital-SE39UY04-39-Inch-Ultra/d...
granttimmerman··on Show HN: A small (less than 2 kb) CSS framework
At this point/size, why do you even need a 'framework'? I think anybody who wants to adopt this kit and modify it a bit might as well just code the css themselves.

I don't think your talking about this one but still pretty interesting.

granttimmerman··on I failed a Twitter interview
I have my phone interview with Twitter next week.

I remember last year I got a similar question from both Twitter and Fb. It's really just a buckshot. Sometimes you'll get a problem that comes easy and sometimes you'll be sitting there dumbstruck.

Best of luck with your future interviews.

granttimmerman··on Ask HN: Why can't I see downvote or upvote arrows anywhere?
This is extremely relevant: https://github.com/HackerNews/HN/issues/5
granttimmerman··on Show HN: YinYang, a usable live programming language
All these live demo applications (like http://livecoding.io/) are interesting and may be useful for teaching the basics of a language, but I don't see them being used at anything bigger than small demos.

A real innovation would be finding a practical use for this type of technology (or a spin of it) in large-scale projects.
