Through out the entire post she outlined exactly why it should not be normalized. It's a debilitating disorder that should not be left untreated. I think to try and normalize it would leave the impression that severe depression is analogous to having a hard day. This is because to most people that is the closest thing they have experienced to severe depression, but in reality it's very different.
I think by doing this she is actually working against her own interests.
Its a search engine that only indexes minimalist websites. Everything on there looks like its from the 90's.
You do realize that medical science has been doing vaccines for a while now. Really, there's no reason to think that there are any long term side effects to the covid-19 vaccine. Medical scientists aren't reinventing the wheel with covid-19. They already have blue prints from other corona viruses to work off of. There's nothing experimental going on here.
Why do multi billion dollar companies keep pulling the "small business" card. Does anyone actually fall for this?
But no one ever listens. People who post stories about how they "quit social media and never felt better" get tons of attention because most people recognized that social media is bad for them. But just like a drug, everyone is aware of these feelings but never listens to them. Those posts also remind people of their bad relationship with social media which puts them in an even deeper spell of unhappiness. So, in order to feel better about themselves they go on Facebook and watch Dude Perfect videos until they're numb.
Here is some unsolicited advice: just stop. That's it. It's the same with other forms of addiction (with the exception of drugs that can kill when you go cold turky. Luckily, social media is not one of them), you just stop doing them. What do they do in rehabilitation? They distract you from thoughts about drugs and try to create other avenues for you to get the reward mechanisms drugs gave you before. But really all that boils down to is you just stopping and moving on.
I hope most people that are in charge of web design disagree with the premise surrounding this site. There shouldn't be a "correctly" or "incorrectly" designed site. It's like declaring Renoir is better than Monet. They are both amazing, and in the end there is no objective foundation to claim such a thing.
Perhaps I'm mistaken, but I've always been under the impression that this is what it's like to be a geek. Maybe someone can help me understand the two. I've always identified more as a geek for this reason, but maybe I'm a nerd.
Either you can only scroll so far down the profile page and be prompted to sign in, or you can't even view the profile without signing in. It's such cancer. But this is the exact solution I was looking for!
Marty Lobdell did a fantastic talk a while back [1] that changed the way I used to study and I'd recommend it to anyone who feels like they aren't studying efficiently.
Other than those, I don't really use anything google has a foot in.
I get the sense people too often take this quote out of context to suggest atheism is some form of religion. Wallace was a master of the metaphor. I don't believe that he meant this literally. I think he could have used the word 'nihilist' instead and gotten the point across but I understand why he didn't.
