The "fix everything" button should link to a Linux installer.
gpvos··on EU chief opens door for Canada to become 'associate member'
It is definitely being considered from the European side as well. Currently there's too much dependency, but this is being worked on, and not just because America wants us to contribute more to NATO.
gpvos··on Has Violence Against Teachers Become Accepted by Society?
Agreed. I came here to post "If so, then you have ceased to be a civilized society."

To be honest, in the Netherlands there are more and more teachers dropping out because of stress and burnout, largely due to increasing criticism and demands from parents. But I haven't yet heard of cases of actual violence.

gpvos··on My temporary PHP fix from 2014 has nearly 20M installs. Today I'm deprecating it
Modern PHP is not so bad really.
gpvos··on EU chief opens door for Canada to become 'associate member'
I'm pretty sure that is a more recent development, and that at least the Soviet Union and China weren't observers during the cold war. (But I haven't looked it up.)
gpvos··on EU chief opens door for Canada to become 'associate member'
Not really with the US anymore.

Anyway, I think you missed this reference: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Non-Aligned_Movement

gpvos··on An update on Wayback Machine access
unwall.app works for at least some sites.
gpvos··on An update on Wayback Machine access
This is well-known. If you are very sure it's not happening anymore, please provide a reputable source.
gpvos··on How much of F-Droid is LLM generated?
Please stop telling people what to do. Also, the discussion of the merits of LLM code writing is far from over. Author of TFA actually provided an interesting data point, you are just rehashing an often heard opinion.
gpvos··on Why is Google still serving dodgy ads?
What does that refer to?
gpvos··on Pkgsrc Is Cool (2022)
It's funny to see someone discovering things that are obvious to me since I've been around a bit longer (like what tarballs are for).
gpvos··on OpenAI agents carried out an undisclosed attack on RubyGems
Time to banish OpenAI from the internet?
gpvos··on HuggingFace: Security.txt
Still infinitely better than using a name from Tolkien's work and then doing the exact opposite of what he stood for.
gpvos··on GrapheneOS' rewritten Messages app is released
The one with the terrible UI, yes.
gpvos··on GrapheneOS' rewritten Messages app is released

gpvos··on Play Store blocks AuroraStore, hurting GrapheneOS users
What currently works for me: settings (top right) -> accounts (icon to the right of the user name (likely "Anonymous")) -> triple dot menu (top right) -> Refresh all accounts.

You may need to refresh a few times, or refresh again after a few updates.

gpvos··on 216M Spy TVs – The LG Smart TV Problem [video]
I have lots of criticisms of the EU and the censorship is lamentable, but this sounds like whataboutism to me. The EU does more for certification than other governments, but even they can't do everything. Is the US going against any of these things? It is only reasonable that they go for the large players first and foremost. Yes, they should do even more, but even the EU has its limits. And I'm quite in favour of going after fast fashion.
gpvos··on Topologist's Map of the World
Love that list of the internet's favourite exclaves. (Ignoring French Guyana counts as a crime, though.)
gpvos··on Topologist's Map of the World
The map also disregards the Dutch/French border on Sint Maarten/Saint Martin, or the UK/Spain one at Gibraltar. In fact, I can't find the Dutch Caribbean anywhere. So I guess a lot of those small islands and borders were just ignored.
gpvos··on LG smart TVs caught logging audio with screen off and snooping on local devices
Please bring your actual argument instead of insinuating stuff.

Anyway, the EU's reasons seem to be entirely legitimate to me.

gpvos··on You Don't Have a Right to Safe Drinking Water, US Court Rules
That's... a matter of interpretation, if I'm reading the news of what's happening over there. I'm quite happy we got the 2.0 version of separation of powers here, as well as a constitution that's a little less set in stone.
gpvos··on You Don't Have a Right to Safe Drinking Water, US Court Rules
Wow. If that is true, the US is an even more weird and unreliable country to live in than I thought, and I thank the Lord that I live in Europe.
gpvos··on You Don't Have a Right to Safe Drinking Water, US Court Rules
To be sure, there's a good discussion to be had about this, whether it should be the parliament or the judiciary that can rule over this, or both, and different countries have different balances in this area.

Generally speaking however, the law and especially the constitution is full of abstract and fuzzy concepts, and judges have ample experience in adjudicating those, as well as balancing them against each other. And don't come to me with alt-right reasoning about what is accurate, true or false. Basic truth isn't too hard to determine.

The main thing is that there should be checks and balances, especially on the executive branch, and currently the US is dismantling them in bulk.

gpvos··on You Don't Have a Right to Safe Drinking Water, US Court Rules
Parts of it still work, but the core is rotten.
gpvos··on You Don't Have a Right to Safe Drinking Water, US Court Rules
The first one I can understand from history (although I do not agree for modern times). But the right to accurate information from public officials, I thought that was indeed an absolute and basic right in a democracy, and it should very strongly be and always have been. (Exceptions like "national security" notwithstanding, and those should probably be more narrowly restricted than they are now.)
gpvos··on Site Is Closed on Sundays
I'm curious why that is a loophole at all. Post offices are traditionally closed on Sundays all over Europe as far as I know, so sending or retrieving packages on Sunday is not a fundamental right or something. (And if you really want it, there are the automated lockers nowadays.)
gpvos··on Site Is Closed on Sundays
The website of the Reformatorisch Dagblad, a christian newspaper (of a very strict Reformed variety) in the Netherlands, is closed on Sundays as well. https://www.rd.nl/
gpvos··on Site Is Closed on Sundays
While I am generally against geolocation use by websites, it would be cool to have a website that closed when it's Sunday where you are.

And then there are diatonic accordions, which all use a similar layout both for the bass and melody sides (but you can't play in all keys[0] on them, that's the difference between chromatic and diatonic). While they are simpler than chromatic accordions, they are now usually more expensive because fewer people play them.

[0] that is, ~"scales"; usually all buttons will be working
