googlryas··on Trump says Venezuela’s Maduro captured after strikes
Everyone claimed we invaded Iraq back in the early 2000s to take their oil, but the US spent a whole bunch of money on the military operations, and opened up oil and gas to basically every other country, including geopolitical rivals like China and Russia. Maybe "oil" is too simple of an explanation.
googlryas··on Trump says Venezuela’s Maduro captured after strikes
Normal Venezuelans saw absolutely zero benefit from whatever oil revenue there was, so even in the worst case scenario, which is not a given, their lives would not be different.
googlryas··on Trump says Venezuela’s Maduro captured after strikes
Venezuelans for the past 5+ years have been the most or almost the most numerous asylum seekers in the US. And "poor economic conditions" or general poverty is not a valid reason to claim asylum

Can anyone provide any attempt at rationalizing their decision? Could your computer overheat and explode if you do this? Could hackers take over your computer and play a flashing light pattern that will give you an epileptic seizure?

googlryas··on Mark Zuckerberg Had Illegal School at His Palo Alto Compound. Neighbors Revolted
Okay, but it doesn't mean they're regular people. Owning a single one of those plots out them in the 1% of household net worth, even if they had 0 other assets.
googlryas··on Mark Zuckerberg Had Illegal School at His Palo Alto Compound. Neighbors Revolted
He purchased each plot for between $5 and $15M. The article describes the residents as "Doctors, lawyers, business executives and Stanford University professors".

I would not call these "regular people"

Does it lead to obviously better results in quality of life compared to people who don't riot quite so frequently?

Is the average londoner worse off than the average Parisian? What about the average British person vs the average French person? I just pick the UK because it is nearby, approximately the same population and same GDP

googlryas··on TikTok has turned culture into a feedback loop of impulse and machine learning
I think you need to make the judgement if a long video is long because it's worth it and needs to be that long, or because it's padded for some reason. When I come across a padded video that I still want to consume for some reason, I usually just paste the url into gemini and ask for a tl;dr and get a few paragraphs to read summarizing the video.

I'm also curious who the market is for a thinner phone. I imagine pockets on some clothes women commonly wear might work better with a thinner phone, but those pockets are almost always too small in other dimensions to actually hold the phone

Their app being top of the line, because they coded their app in their app, would certainly be a nice natural endorsement of the product.
googlryas··on Silicon Valley crosswalk buttons apparently hacked to imitate Musk, Zuck voices
Wow, your edit of your post is completely different from your original message - "You asked why it spams wait over and over. But it doesn't. That's the incorrect claim."

Why did you edit it so drastically? Was it because of poor reading comprehension?

> They said they dislike the person that says to explain an incorrect fact.

No, they said - literally - 'I have a pet peeve where people “explain why things are a certain way” when they are not that way'. Your reading is not what they said. I'm sorry but you're batting .000 here.

> You're the one that said to explain an incorrect fact.

A person asserted something (through conversational norms), and I basically said "Isn't there a reason for that?", and now I'm the one who is being argued with as if I asserted the thing in the first place. Why aren't you responding to streetmeat, telling them that it doesn't spam "wait...wait"?

edit: Dude, you've edited your post at least 4 times in the past 12 minutes, all of your posts being drastically different points, so I'm not sure which one I should respond to. I think I've responded to your 2nd edit, which I've essentially quoted in entirety as I saw it on my screen. Your current post is equally as ridiculous, but it isn't clear to me that I should spend any time on it if you are just going to edit it to be a completely different point again.

googlryas··on Silicon Valley crosswalk buttons apparently hacked to imitate Musk, Zuck voices
I don't, so I guess I'm good by that heuristic.

Now, I'm curious why you responded to me, but you didn't bother responding to OP who seemed to think that the only definition of hacker was essentially "someone who illicitly breaks into other people's systems".

Sorry, I have a pet peeve about poor reading comprehension.

How confident are you that you understand the requirements and design of accessibility systems to make that determination?
googlryas··on Silicon Valley crosswalk buttons apparently hacked to imitate Musk, Zuck voices
You apparently don't understand that "hacker" has multiple definitions. Sorry to hear that. The guy who named this site wrote extensively on "hackers", which you're free to read. Try "hackers and painters" first.

If you think this is a site all about people who gain illicit access to systems which they shouldn't have, then you must be very confused by the content frequently appearing here.

Why are you calling me out for asking why it does a thing that OP claimed it did?

(You don't need to answer, I know exactly why - because you agree with OPs viewpoint and disagree with mine)

A lot of people can't actually say what kind of movie they want, until they see it. And even if there are 100,000 releases every year in every genre, virality will probably still exist where even if random, one of those movies is going to get more popular than the rest and then everyone will "need" to see it.
