gomez9··on Yield Curves Invert in U.S., U.K
USA has a huge trade deficit with China. Chinese economy is much more dependent on the USA buying their goods than the other way around. They've already devalued their currency in order to stay competitive to American buyers, so in a sense they are directly paying for the tariffs.

Yield curve inversion is way bigger than the trade war. Also the trade war directionality favors the USA.

"It turned out the winners had more in common than an aptitude for spelling: Six of them had relied on SpellPundit, a coaching company started last year by two former competitive spellers."

I see a striking parallel to LeetCode. 8 way tie this year, could be 30 way tie next year.

gomez9··on If You're Poor in America, You Can Be Both Overweight and Hungry
Tobacco and alcohol advertising is already heavily regulated. Makes little sense why these same standards should not be applied to food, especially when obesity's impact on society is far worse.

Why not regulate junk food advertising? I don't watch much television, but when I do, it's shocking to see how normalized unhealthy food is in society.

Problem with a whiteboard is that once you start writing, you are almost committed to your initial attempt. You cannot copy/paste and move bits of logic around. Left out an if(xyz)... conditional? Well then hopefully you've spaced out your code so that you can sneak extra pieces in as you work your way through it. I would much rather solve a problem on a laptop hooked up to a projector.
