I don't believe the hype. Ads do work, and web ads are even better.
Not only are some ads personalized, but they also have a call to action. There are many times where I can make the purchase right then and there.
The experience will get better over time and I'm sure in the near future online advertising will own the biggest piece of the $ pie.
The most important things for me are
A matte screen
Excellent keyboard
Large resolution for large amount of screen real estate
SSD
Good CPU & RAM
And built solid/well
That being said it's really difficult to find that sort of combination in anything other than a MacGitHub commit messages can be really ugly. I'm guilty of this and it's not something I'm proud of. I think the small improvement they did a while ago with the display of commit messages is a step in the right direction, I wish they would apply that same style to the web interface when composing commit messages.

The sales tactics on that page are also used by people trying to scam you into buying their product. It's almost like "it's too good to be true" -- but no, it's true and the book is quality. Buy it, you won't regret it.
Marc-André Cournoyer, the author of the book, also writes about his sales tactics if you're interested -- you should go buy that book too.
With all of the transpilers surfacing such as CoffeeScript, Roy, ClojureScript, etc; you can program in an 'expressive' and 'natural' way and use node.js as well.
I don't see the problem with that.
It's sad the general public doesn't feel the same way and I really hope other mobile OSs can learn from webOS and innovate on those problems that webOS has solved really well.
Or in other terms, I don't think I'm going from horse to car.
Perhaps I should experiment for a month and see if it does actually make a difference.
Overall it feels like good advice but it's just not my cup of tea.
Those that don't adapt or resist the change will be the ones that suffer the most. This is a pattern with many things in life.
Yes it seems like the need for these "average" jobs are decreasing but in the end it will all balance itself out and there will be new areas that would need to be filled.
