Let me put it this way: I once “red-teamed” the constitution, and walked away with the conclusion health justifications were the biggest vulnerability point. Imagining a constitutional APT, I’m very wary of justifications that rely on it…

Of course the corporate lawyers and enterprise settings are going to take this position, but I find your flippant dismissal of GPLs core uses and purposes seem to belie you are just in a group that prefers the non-user friendly licensing.

That’s ok, but you can’t hand wave away that GPL, especially v3+, is about protecting and defending the user (like tron), while MIT/BSD is not, by calling it “vague notions of fairness” as if GPL hasn’t already seen wins in the courts… on this point I think some research might be due for me though.

I say the GPL and copyleft and the four freedoms for the user are the tools we use to fight these types of corporations in the first place, and I truly believe not only is GPL not dead but that it will play a vital role in our near and long term future.

I've asked dang et al to release data on astroturfed threads and haven't heard any response whatsoever. They have the data but aren't willing to share it seems. Why is a different question. As persona management (sockpuppetry) tech gets better it becomes much more difficult even with the data to prove.

I highly suggest those interested in this topic check out the blockdiag group of applications (blockdiag, nwdiag, seqdiag, rackdiag) Its been a year or so since I last did an eval of all the options and I keep returning to them. I prefer to have git post-recieve hooks that auto rebuild the images on commit. I liked mermaid but found some major limitations but the brilliantly named python "diagrams" is something I use sometimes as well. With all the font/image improvements you can use on both you can get some very nice stuff going.
