glennvtx··on Reasoning about Taxes
Justifying genocide, war, and atrocity because you cannot imagine a better alternative? As someone who grew up on a farm, i can assure you government has done nothing to help, they have only ever saddled us with burden, and enforced monopolies of larger factory farms, even going so far as to create special migrant visas so these companies can capitalize on slave labor, "legally". All hierarchical government is cancerous.
glennvtx··on Reasoning about Taxes
There is no such place, and even if there were, your argument is essentially, "ergo, Decedo". Government is and always has been the principal enabler of every single genocide, war, and mass atrocity in history. Einstein said the definition of insanity was doing the same thing over and over, expecting different results. Support of hierarchical government is mostly the consequence of brainwashing, and insane.
glennvtx··on Reasoning about Taxes
When something is taken from you, against your will, ( through coercion ) that is a theft. People have been conditioned your whole life to accept it, but it is still theft.
glennvtx··on Reasoning about Taxes
Taxation is just theft, There is no fair way to apply theft.
glennvtx··on The Texas power outage is a nation-wide problem
It all boils down to utilities not thinking they needed to protect wellheads from these kinds of temperatures in Texas. I get how that can happen, many of you make the same mistake with outside faucets. I spent the past few days with rolling outages, I would love to find a way to blame this on government, but mostly i blame the weather.

glennvtx··on Justin Amash Introduces Bill to End Civil Asset Forfeiture Nationwide
Anyone who uses coercion to take property from someone where that person has not trespassed the person or property of another human being is a thief, it does not matter what uniform they wear, or how many people voted for them to be able to do it.

If a thief attempts to take your property at gunpoint, You have every right to defend yourself from it.

glennvtx··on Helping law enforcement lawfully access the Signal app
This is awful, And also it is obvious that if one physically possesses the device, the keys, one can access this data.
glennvtx··on Publication of Cryptocurrency Enforcement Framework
The biggest promise of crypto is that it is immune to government censorship / control. It can free us from the hidden taxation of inflation, and government coercion.

I for one don't want government to be able to regulate / control / trace transactions.

glennvtx··on Scandinavian Monitoring Stations Detect Unexplained Radiation Spike over Europe
Perhaps that is how you, and other rational people might feel about it, but the psychopaths in charge might very well feel differently, and probably do, if history is any indicator.
glennvtx··on Trump signs executive order targeting protections for social media companies
I would. After all the attacks against them he has made, I would have done it a long time ago.
glennvtx··on Trump signs executive order targeting protections for social media companies
The problem there is that these sites have become echo-chambers, where they breed extremism. These kinds of ideologies (E.G. Nazism) need to be exposed to the light, like a bacteria, in order to be shamed and debunked.
glennvtx··on Trump to sign executive order on social media Thursday
Straight democracy is a disaster, rightly avoided whenever possible. Allowing "the masses" to dictate policy such as you propose results in giant unsustainable welfare states, where the masses in cities vote themselves the property of those who produce, based on sheer numbers. It is an appeal to the masses, a fallacy.
glennvtx··on Why is the stock market rallying when the economy is so bad?
They will simply leave, or destroy the system.

glennvtx··on I just blocked YouTube on all devices in the house
HOW. Youtube is a multi-tentacled beastie. What did you do to effectively block it?
glennvtx··on Show HN: I made a Chrome extension to stop mindless browsing
If i could request one thing, it would be the ability to block a site during the scheduled time outright, and / or add a challenge of typing some awful lorem ipsum or something to unlock it for a short time.
glennvtx··on Is it time to nationalise the pharmaceutical industry?
If the regulations are unnecessary, then why not dispense with them and let the free market work. Surely you don't think government is more efficient than the market.
glennvtx··on Is it time to nationalise the pharmaceutical industry?
No. First, it is unethical, and the antithesis of this countries founding principal concerning freedom and free market forces. Remove the barriers to entry and competition that government created, they have enabled the monopolies that drive up drug cost. Holding the politicians and special interest that lobbied for them responsible would be great as well.
glennvtx··on People kept working, became healthier while on basic income: report
No one seems to address the idea that coercion is necessary to force people to pay for this, something i do not wish to do, and many people feel the same. It has already been shown this disincentives work, Those of us that do work and are taxed to pay for the already massively wasteful welfare state resent being enslaved even further to pay for the errors of socialist re-distributive schemes.
glennvtx··on Assange Hearing Day 2
Pretty much sums it up right there. done.
glennvtx··on Assange Hearing Day 2
Nailed it. Just vote harder, amirite? This has come so far from the individual freedom that the bill of rights was envisioned to protect. Now the question is "what is right thing to do for me" rather than "what is the right thing to do."

The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public's money. - anon

glennvtx··on Assange Hearing Day 2
This is an egregious miscarriage of justice and everyone involved in perpetrating it against this man - for publishing the misdeeds of government, should be strung up, Literally. That is what the founders of this country would have done, and we could do worse than following their example, here.
glennvtx··on Recover HD Using a Magnet
I have fixed a ton of drives, in general. Board replacements, swapping platters, head swaps, etc. Some takeaways: I started doing this under tupperware, and that worked. I built a "cleanroom" out of a new sandblasting cabinet, and that worked better. Later i built a laminar flow bench out of a cheap kobalt tool-box and some plexiglass, and that was better still.

Swapping the control boards works on some makes (wd), make certain it is exactly the same model and revision. exactly. "close enough" never worked for me, not even once.

By far just a slight "spin" by hand along the axis of travel of the disk, a quick gentile flicking motion, works to unfreeze the spindles of most stuck drives.

Some drives responded to a gentle heating of the spindle bearing with the hot air.

Use dd_rescue.

"Spinrite" is complete horse-shit, don't listen to anyone saying otherwise.

Most drives people brought in were just corruptions, photorec and it's associated programs (testdisk) are also invaluable..

glennvtx··on A CT scan costs $1,100 in the US – and $140 in Holland
No we do not. The government has screwed the system up enough, giving this government even more control is a terrible idea. Just stop enforcing monopolies, Force providers to have a clear pricing structure and let market forces deal with it.
glennvtx··on A CT scan costs $1,100 in the US – and $140 in Holland
My CT cost $180 in the US because i bothered to shop around.. I see these articles all the time cherry-picking The only reason healthcare in the US is high is government enforcing monopolies, Giving them more power over healthcare is foolish. If you are the least bit smart you call around, that is the nature of a market.
glennvtx··on A CT scan costs $1,100 in the US – and $140 in Holland
I am in the US and my Ct cost $180, because i bothered to shop around, even a little.
