Big N, really?

giingyui··on Chrome's SSL Bypass Cheatcode
Hey at least Chrome lets you can bypass SSL errors. Firefox makes it impossible to bypass SSL errors if the site uses HSTS. So much for the browser for power users.
giingyui··on Voting age to be lowered to 16 in UK by next general election
It is not unacceptable to say that people of different sexes behave differently. That is dismissive and also anti-science.
giingyui··on Voting age to be lowered to 16 in UK by next general election
That’s not wishful, that’s straight delusional.
giingyui··on TikTok, AliExpress and WeChat ignore your GDPR rights
Multiple official websites such as https://gdpr.eu/ have cookie banners.
giingyui··on What caused the 'baby boom'? What would it take to have another?
No, it’s not the economy. All the people my age who have children are the less financially and intellectually equipped to be parents. Yet they are doing fine.
giingyui··on Congress moves to reject bulk of White House's proposed NASA cuts
If there is something Congress will always be functional for is increasing spending.
giingyui··on Lead GrapheneOS developer was forcibly conscripted into a war
That’s some damn bad bus factor.
giingyui··on What caused the 'baby boom'? What would it take to have another?
It came unwound when we allowed mass immigration to destroy the wages of the lower end and stopped building to respond to the housing demand. That can be easily undone, if the powers to be allowed it.
giingyui··on Apple's Browser Engine Ban Persists, Even Under the DMA
That’s very different from the website not working on the default settings of Firefox, which is what most users are expected to be running.
giingyui··on Google's widespread tracking across the web
Why would the EU fine you for something you did before you had operations in the EU? I don’t think it works that way.
giingyui··on Google's widespread tracking across the web
What’s the EU going to do to you if you don’t have operations in the EU?
giingyui··on Google's widespread tracking across the web
VMware wants to sell to European clients. If they didn’t they wouldn’t have cookie banners.
giingyui··on Google's widespread tracking across the web
They don’t track Bob at 17th Rosewood St. They put him into groups of things they think he is likely to buy. Which is close to targeting people.
giingyui··on Apple's Browser Engine Ban Persists, Even Under the DMA
It’s actually the opposite, no? If it’s about security it makes sense they choose to compromise the security of their platform only where they are forced to.
giingyui··on Are a few people ruining the internet for the rest of us?
Is that last sentence in good faith? What is this, the Middle Ages? Is there any reason not to be able to insult a politician if I feel like it?
giingyui··on 'Europe must ban American Big Tech and create a European Silicon Valley'
> It is possible to live comfortably in most of Europe for €1000-€1500/month

Nice. Where can I get that salary in Spain?

giingyui··on AI therapy bots fuel delusions and give dangerous advice, Stanford study finds
That is correct. I don’t think this study can be made in a reliable way.
giingyui··on AI therapy bots fuel delusions and give dangerous advice, Stanford study finds
How exactly can they determine that it’s bad to use AI therapy bots if they are not therapists?
giingyui··on Supreme Court's ruling practically wipes out free speech for sex writing online
I always wonder if these arguments are ever made in good faith. Comparing a treatment for diabetes to HRT. But there are people who really are off the deep end. So who knows.
giingyui··on Malware found in official gravityforms plugin indicating supply chain breach
Should say what plugin it is.
giingyui··on Google nerfs Pixel 6a batteries following fire hazard
> “We found that a small number of iPhone 6S devices made in September and October 2015 contained a battery component that was exposed to controlled ambient air longer than it should have been before being assembled into battery packs. As a result, these batteries degrade faster than a normal battery and cause unexpected shutdowns to occur. It’s important to note, this is not a safety issue.”

Seems a defect to me.

giingyui··on Grok: Searching X for "From:Elonmusk (Israel or Palestine or Hamas or Gaza)"
I suppose the sword in the hand of the lion of the coat of arms of Finland is for cutting elk meat.
giingyui··on Apple vs the Law
It’s not the eighties anymore. The world has moved on. You have to look at things from the perspective of the present. Forget Yugoslavia.
giingyui··on Apple vs the Law
Socially and economically left wing. Progressive socially and interventionist economically.
giingyui··on FP8 is ~100 tflops faster when the kernel name has "cutlass" in it
And what’s the downside of using that kernel name? It can’t just be that it’s faster and nothing else. Unless they included lots of sleep(x) calls.
giingyui··on Apple vs the Law
Europe is centre right? That is an interesting claim. I guess someone’s right is someone else’s left.
giingyui··on Turkey bans Grok over Erdoğan insults
Most countries in Africa are youngish and big and no one thinks they are at the level of Europe.

The change you need for them to be at the level of Europe is cultural and that takes many generations.
