gigs··on Age of universe at 26.7B years, nearly twice as old as previously believed
He isn't. That's the pop science article author's attempt to relate to his work, I think.

Here's one of Gupta's papers.

The article really should not have even mentioned tired light. It's not really what Gupta is proposing. He is instead proposing that Dirac was correct about some things we view as constants not actually being constant.

He isn't proposing steady state. He's basically saying that Dirac might have been right in proposing things like the gravitational constant or fine-structure constant are time variant over long enough times. If what we think are constants, aren't, anything is possible.

Virginia has pre-emption of pretty much all matters of law. Cities and counties can only pass zoning ordinances.

For example, it's not possible for a VA city or county to make something a crime, unless there's a specific law on the state level allowing them to.

I have statistics. 2640 user accounts from 6320 orders.

Some customers are repeat customers, but even if we are generous and assume that the majority are not repeat orders (I'd estimate 25% are repeat orders), that's over 1/3rd that created an account even though I offer guest checkout without an account and don't really push them to create an account.

gigs··on The latest experiment in basic income will be coming to Stockton, California
If the justification for this is rising housing costs, then giving people free money to pay the high rents is just going to cause housing to be even more expensive.

We've already tried this experiment. It's called financial aid for college. Tuition prices just keep tracking federal aid increases.

If they gave the money as credits to developers to build more housing, then they might have a chance at accomplishing their goal.

Yeah, I mean, what is he suggesting as an alternative for passwords for something like a small/medium ecommerce site?

You can have a guest checkout so they don't need to have an account, but some people want them.
