Now could you make one for urban noises? (e.g. traffic, trash truck, drunk guys at 3AM etc)
gigantino··on The Amazon forest has an almost 3x year-on-year increase in fires in February
I thought the same, funnily enough they just changed the title :)
gigantino··on 4B If Statements
When I was young I tried to make my own alarm clock.

My masterplan was to print the time to the display (starting from 8 AM), wait a second and print the next value. All manually, obviously.

I remember eventually giving up because it was getting too boring. I think I discovered about loops a year after the event.

Great times :)

gigantino··on Fake Brit till You Make it
Had a good laugh, great job! :)
gigantino··on How do you browse Hacker News?
I use my own custom client since I couldn't find anything that satisfied me enough, and the ones that looked nice didn't work without JS. You can find it over at https://hn.gigantino.dev, while the source is at https://github.com/gigantino/hn
gigantino··on Show HN: Historical HN Hiring Data
I personally believe that the salaries and quality of life in Switzerland make it the best place for programmers in EU.
gigantino··on Show HN: Historical HN Hiring Data
I absolutely love it! You are missing Switzerland though which probably has the most interesting programming landscape in Europe.
gigantino··on Show HN: Gitgpt – Natural Language Git
Absolutely wasted opportunity. You could have called it "Chat GitPT"
gigantino··on Ask HN: Did you tell your employer you use AI to do your work?
Had an interview with a company the other day, I stated that I loved using ChatGPT to view problems from another perspective and to quickly write boilerplate code. They ended up hiring me, so I guess they didn't mind? At the end of they day it's just another tool, exactly like your IDE's autocompletion.
gigantino··on Ask HN: How do you manage your digital footprint in 2023?
I've been using Revolut and their disposable cards for over two years now, but I never liked it as much as Privacy.com since they didn't allow you to set a spending limit. And well, if it wasn't for your comment I would have never discovered that Revolut actually implemented said feature. Thank you!
gigantino··on Ask HN: How do you manage your digital footprint in 2023?
Unfortunately it's available only in the US...
gigantino··on Ask HN-Beginner Arduino Kits
I started off with Arduino when I was 10 thanks to my dad so I could unironically say that I have 10 years of programming experience. You are a good dad man, your kid is going to remember your effort.

Anyhow, other than buying a kit you should also consider getting a book even though there are probably loads of tutorials on YouTube explaining all of the basics.
