ghfhghg··on Show HN: Japanese City Name Generator – Using a Simple 3-Layer MLP
Can you spell it?
ghfhghg··on Garbage in Japan
Games are not a daily driver compared to a Bento box or most things you buy in Japan. It's actually a tad shocking to see the amount of waste you get from every day life in Japan.

When you do your garbage there's a box called "moeru" (burnable) and there is a crapload of plastic in there.

That said, Japanese packaging is also an art. Both can be true at the same time.

ghfhghg··on Garbage in Japan
Absolutely. I'd much prefer to carry around my trash rather than have toilet anxiety in a heartbeat.

The end result is in North America I tend to just urinate in a back alley because I'm fed up trying to find an appropriate place.

ghfhghg··on Bybit loses $1.5B in hack but can cover loss, CEO confirms
I have enough money to live comfortably for the rest of my life working on interesting problems even if they don't make me a hundred-millionaire.
ghfhghg··on Bybit loses $1.5B in hack but can cover loss, CEO confirms
What? It's my personal opinion which I explicitly pre-qualified. Why do you care what I think?

Move on and live your life.

ghfhghg··on Bybit loses $1.5B in hack but can cover loss, CEO confirms
Just to be clear I'm not saying that my aquaintences didn't make money. Just that they are vague.

But ultimately if you have friends making hundreds of millions of dollars and there is enough of them then that essentially proves there will be many more losers than winners.

I personally don't partake for the same reason I didn't partake in Amway in college. It's functionally a pyramid scam and on a personal level a boring way to make a living.

ghfhghg··on Amazon thought it could compete with Steam because it was much larger than Valve
The online requirement is still probably the most permissive online requirement out of all the services out there.

I can't recall ever having issues playing a single player game while offline.

ghfhghg··on Can you lose your native tongue? (2024)
French was the first language I spoke well and I haven't spoken it for 25 years. I'm appalled at myself when I struggle to speak with my French family.

I tell myself that if I apply myself it will come back but I'm starting to have doubts it will be that easy.

ghfhghg··on Bybit loses $1.5B in hack
I've never purchased crypto or had any involvement but acquaintances I know have used that exact argument. They know it's a pyramid but believe they can get ahead because they were in early enough.

They are usually a lot more vague when I ask about their realized gains.

ghfhghg··on Strategic Wealth Accumulation Under Transformative AI Expectations
2 has worked pretty well for me so far.

I try to do 3 as much as possible.

My current work explicitly forbids me from doing 1. Currently just figuring out the timing to leave.

ghfhghg··on Show HN: Immersive Gaussian Splat experience of Sutro Tower, San Francisco
It doesn't seem to load on Android Chrome or Firefox. Maybe a hug of death?
ghfhghg··on Netflix to invest $1B in Mexico over next 4 years
They offered me a job in the past so they definitely hire middling engineers.
ghfhghg··on Elon Musk's Demolition Crew
Very telling the op chose not to reply to your post.
ghfhghg··on Elon Musk's Demolition Crew
While it's true I was being facetious I very much do agree with you on this point.
ghfhghg··on YouTube restores SineVibes channel after Peter Kirn & Ars Technica get involved
They make audio software. Notably lately they make additions to to some programmable korg products like the NTS-1
ghfhghg··on Elon Musk's Demolition Crew
Well as long as you'll admit you're wrong then everything is fine.
ghfhghg··on Younger cannabis users have reduced brain function, finds largest study yet
Oh I see. Yes I would definitely agree with that.

Thanks for the clarification

ghfhghg··on Blueskyfeedbot: Post RSS Feeds to Bluesky via GitHub Actions
Ah that tracks. I never used a browser and initially used the Google reader app and then switched to an alternate app afterwards
ghfhghg··on Blueskyfeedbot: Post RSS Feeds to Bluesky via GitHub Actions
How did Google Reader dying kneecap RSS? I still use it to this day
ghfhghg··on Younger cannabis users have reduced brain function, finds largest study yet
You did though

Ah I guess this is one of those "do what I say don't do what I do" situations

Noted

I'm not sure what your are arguing here. Even if they are 30 they are well over 1100
ghfhghg··on Younger cannabis users have reduced brain function, finds largest study yet
I did not realize that at all. Thanks for the info!
ghfhghg··on Younger cannabis users have reduced brain function, finds largest study yet
You do realize that the comments in replies quoting with counter anecdotes is specifically to point out that anecdotal evidence is just that and nothing more?

I think you might have missed out on some subtleness.

ghfhghg··on Younger cannabis users have reduced brain function, finds largest study yet
Based on the content of their post (started at 13, uses daily) they are WAY over 1100 days
ghfhghg··on Exposed DeepSeek database leaking sensitive information, including chat history
That's my experience working in Asia. All the comments were in Japanese though

I don't disagree but they also don't display any of the symptoms laid out in the original post you are replying to.

Also I was replying to a person who signed up specifically to make a single troll post so I replied in kind.

ghfhghg··on Younger cannabis users have reduced brain function, finds largest study yet
Not at all because they are all tech directors or high level programmers who have been paid well to do it for decades.
ghfhghg··on Younger cannabis users have reduced brain function, finds largest study yet
Sure but I know plenty of people who are dead sober who exhibit the same behavior.

I behave like that occasionally when I have too many unrelated tasks at once and am a little stressed. I hope people don't think it's because I was high.

ghfhghg··on Younger cannabis users have reduced brain function, finds largest study yet
Definitely. Conversely I know someone who died young of lung cancer but never smoked.
ghfhghg··on Younger cannabis users have reduced brain function, finds largest study yet
Some of the smartest programmers I know smoke marijuana quite regularly. I don't know if they all smoked at an earlier age but I know that 2 of them did.
