An engineer passionate about JS and basic tech freedoms (e.g. right to repair, OSS, net neutrality).

I think the web with all its shortcomings is the best thing to happen to tech industry and I want it to succeed. That does NOT mean it should be used for everything.

Why is it expensive tho? It seems to be this little bridge between digital and somewhat analogue world that you can use for many things. What price would you suggest? Or what alternative way is there to achieve things like this?
gear54rus··on Things I wish I knew before moving 50K lines of code to React Server Components
My ducks are in the row and there is no pendulum swing. There is one only in people's heads. People who didn't learn the tools then (when JS era started) and are refusing to learn them now (when more and more focus is on SSR). These people's opinions are irrelevant as their only argument is that they didn't invest the time to understand the benefits.
gear54rus··on Things I wish I knew before moving 50K lines of code to React Server Components
Im14andthisisdeep :) Did I ever say otherwise? Tools are invented to make things more convenient and not learning them properly is not an excuse to whine.
gear54rus··on Things I wish I knew before moving 50K lines of code to React Server Components
Yeah 10 different files with 10k unorganized lines each is totally different :D

I swear you js haters never fail to make me laugh with all the ignorant lamentations.

Sure, that's what we'll do! Sounds grand!

By the way, we need to add another feature to our page, would you mind looking through that file so there are no class collisions? What do you mean its too long? 50k lines? Pfft.. But at least it 'gets transferred to the browser pretty fast'

Not to mention that the evaluation went deeper than a simple camera as evidenced by the screen madam was looking at at the time of the failed test. It clearly showed something inside K like biological markers of emotions?

Lots of work on that front no doubt, and not only wrt domains
gear54rus··on Anthropic’s $5B, 4-year plan to take on OpenAI
Well you can wait a lifetime or you can take control away from them with a couple clicks. The choice is obvious.

This comment right here can be shown to snobs who still denounce crypto btw
gear54rus··on Thinking hard makes the brain tired
That's a classic story in a corporate world but I fail to see how is it relevant in the context :) We were talking about 'thinking' being required but nobody said it was sufficient.
gear54rus··on Thinking hard makes the brain tired
that first one on the list kinda requires it though... and the 2nd one kinda requires the first one haha

not that easy is it

gear54rus··on Bittrex to Cease Operations in the US
Stop raging, your argument is invalid simply because I can exchange crypto for goods and services and you don't even see this simple problem
gear54rus··on Bittrex to Cease Operations in the US
yeah except now you will exchange your fiat into crypto with some shady guy instead of a somewhat-trustable big entity with reputation.

gear54rus··on How do you know when macOS detects and remediates malware?
It is typical apple dumbness - form over function.

The same dumbness exists on windows where it would silently remove files like keygens with its 'antivirus' making it a mandatory drill to disable it completely (no easy task too) on any new installation. Even worse you would sometimes forget that it does that and then be dumbfounded for about 30 minutes as to why the file is in the archive but not on the filesystem after its extraction.

Unless I'm missing something, a spread between 10 and 20 is not a place where you can 'buy for 10 and sell for 20'.

Otherwise these 2 guys could fill their orders immediately.

10 20 means you can sell for 10 and buy for 20 instead.

what kind of misleading analogy is this? you're not sharing your private key (if you have half a brain cell anyway) when paying with crypto so why even bring this up?
