I think the web with all its shortcomings is the best thing to happen to tech industry and I want it to succeed. That does NOT mean it should be used for everything.
It could really be 'malware' of course, but my money's on the other possibility.
This thing clicks ads for you so that parasites can't use data for anything meaningful. Check it out!
And then when you really decide that you need something, use all that privacy contraptions you are using currently to try and find what you are looking for without fear of being manipulated.
That's what I've opted for anyway. Am I missing something? Perhaps spam calls are a problem in this case, but I've never gotten it yet thankfully.
And make you disregard the moment when he showed his true self as a thing of the past.
Seriously though, when you copy and upload 'their' (in many cases the author is long dead, or in your case they even attacked the author) works of art it's "How dare you, you are single-handedly responsible for the breakdown of the fabric of society. You should be locked up forever, we lost over 1bn moneyz because of your video!!!!11"
But when they store and sell your age gender and other personal data to other shitheads that want to sell you useless stuff you don't need it's all fine and dandy.
This is why I will always endorse piracy at user's discretion as a way to harm stupid greedy corporations relying on a broken copyright law.
It's exactly this line of thinking that got us here. This 'private business' is a lot of people doing the same thing (in this case censoring things, as much as I hate ads, this is censorship). But people who use their products can't organize themselves in this way (they are not a single entity) and can't boycott them when shit like that happens. They can't leave independently either since it puts each of them them at a disadvantage ("everyone else is using it").
That's why Google must be slapped as hard as possible here - because they are nearly a monopoly.
Thankfully, the black bar is not there, perhaps previous discussions made them reconsider.
You can just download node, put it anywhere and it will work as long as you add './bin' to 'PATH'.
This can be done on per-command basis as you probably know:
PATH=$PATH:/node/location/bin npm -g i leftpad
(for the record to me 900MB seems like a grossly overestimated number, I would request a link on that)
You can use nvm (https://github.com/creationix/nvm) to install only for one user (inside $HOME) or manual install from release page for all users (cp -r */ /usr when inside the unpacked dir): https://nodejs.org/en/download/
It will work flawlessly both ways without using any package managers for your system. What is so hard about that for people?
second stage is 'OMFG this website doesn't work for me. How could developer not think about my entitled ass and not spend 2x time to make it work without JS?'
In a sense, you pay those hours that you saved up by using an easier, more intuitive language like JS. Or you can choose not to and still have pretty good performance and blazing fast dev cycles.
The grandma will not make better decision if you put in another dumb warning like this one https://i.imgur.com/rxmyWtF.png to waste more and more of my time when I enter my password on the same website over and over. I KNOW IT'S INSECURE, JUST STFU already.
I'm at the point where I will look to build my browsers from source after removing that shit (along with removing inability to add certificate exceptions for certain situations). Good thing they're open source.
I hate any requirements for passwords but why go for cornercase email?
Hahahah, amazes me how people still use that crap. Why not pirate it instead and give them a big fuck you with those restrictions?
exactly what I'm talking about. "around the world" may not be enough. And since they don't allow dedicated servers hosted by players, they better have lag compensation or to hell with them.
let them run their own servers? tough luck, most games in 2017 don't allow dedicated server setup
It has to fail gracefully on version mismatch, other than that it's just a bad decision.
