96 is not reflecting my age, I'm in my early 30s

I'm an SWE primarily web side, though I do work in mobile too and I dabble in hardware on my spare time

Currently working in an innovation team as a hardware person but lately we've been developing agentic stuff

ge96··on Sony Deletes 551 Movies PlayStation Owners Paid For
They do have Cowboy Bebop in 1080P on YouTube which looks amazing, I bought it

I don't partake in downloading anymore but I do go to streaming sites

ge96··on Sony Deletes 551 Movies PlayStation Owners Paid For
No refund?

I have a similar grief with YouTube movies although in that one, they don't play UHD. Some do like Valerian plays at least in 1080P, most movies are capped to 480P unless you have an "approved device" eg. something probably riddled with ads.

ge96··on Why I Stopped Arguing with People
There was a standup bit I saw recently guy says '"how to win an argument, you just say "I'm gonna stop you right there"' and then don't say anything

ge96··on Ask HN: What is the job market like?
Will say there is a difference between "reality" and hackernews too, this is a startup elite type place, jobs posted here, different than those posted on LinkedIn.

I'm just fortunate recruiters have found me for my jobs... there was one time I used Hired that was back in 2022 that worked for 1 job.

The hiding of user posts on reddit is bs I hate that, although it is convenient if you want to just hide all your stuff without deleting your account

ge96··on Ask HN: What is the job market like?
Check r/cscareerquestions ha usually blood bath for juniors eg. thousands of applications to try and land a job. r/experienceddevs too a little different vibe there but some insight on job market

But hey if you don't use AI when doing an interview, might have a better leg up than those that do eg. pause for 5 seconds between responses, ear piece, looking at a screen, someone replacing you after hiring, etc...

ge96··on How we run Firecracker VMs inside EC2 and start browsers in less than 1s
I briefly tried to do his job where it was scraping steam for CS GO skins (think a knife skin for $2,000.00) and yeah trying to find proxy poviders/get around the ip limit... tough one but market for it people paying for the tool (not mine).
ge96··on The Web We Know Is Going to Disappear
Yeah it does kind of suck where you have to go to someplace like reddit to get content and people have to "low-key" drop a link to their source blog
ge96··on The history of butterfly swimming
Funny I hated swimming but I was good at it, also did butterfly and freestyle. Everyone had to do the 500 at least once, that was brutal.
ge96··on Emacs appearances in pop culture
oh right, that was great the O'Neill here's a brand new ship, immediately sacrifices it to the replicators
ge96··on Developer gets Half-Life running at 30 FPS on a Nokia N95
Funny I was a supporter of their devices I bought both phones, laptop, tablets... Issue is the software man no drivers. Like the e-ink tablet had a great design/screen but the brush stroke was ass would leave dotted lines as you drew then it would render solid on lift up.

I'm complaining even though I'm not writing the drivers myself I get that.

ge96··on Emacs appearances in pop culture
now that's cool, the OG star gate movie? I watched SG-1 multiple times and watched the other ones too, too bad about the reboot being cancelled.
ge96··on Developer gets Half-Life running at 30 FPS on a Nokia N95
Funny I tried to buy one of those breakout blackberry keyboards but they were sold out everywhere
ge96··on Doing nothing at work
Haha that's me right now, I'm enjoying it, I used to be gung ho wanting to be somebody but now it's fun coasting

I've been focused on going out/socializing more which is unfortunately distracting me in life, all I can think about is going out getting laid

N900 was a crazy phone, ahead of its time

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G9CFrJnCKqU

At that time I had a flip phone maybe a black berry curve so not aware of it

ge96··on Emacs appearances in pop culture
How to sell drugs online fast was a great show because they kept stressing how they had to have the test pass in their Vue front end.

I always whenever I see code on a show/movie I wonder if it's real, a lot of times it's a mix of random languages. Sometimes just jibberish.

Also recently watched Nirvana 1997 really good.

ge96··on Thermodynamics rules future orbital data centers
I'm excited I think of the Cowboy Bebop episode (Jamming With Edward) where they hunt down a rogue satellite to get data off it.

Also think it would be crazy to have a worm spread across the servers/starlink, would there be an antivirus system onboard or maybe not applicable, says RTOS can get a virus

ge96··on Workers are spending over 6 hours a week botsitting AI, fueling job frustration
When I was given a semi-ultimatum "use AI or get fired" kind of thing for writing code I had a brief bout of depression/sadness. Whereas my friend doesn't care/says "I get paid to not work". I have gotten past it, now I'm just like, I'll do what I need to do to get paid since unfortunately I'm in a lot of debt so I need this job. I learned to code in 2013 so I like typing the code myself but now it seems like a waste of time. I still write my own code for myself/hardware hobby.
