gdonelli··on Astropad Workbench: Remote desktop for the AI era, not IT support
Since Mac mini sales are surging from the OpenClaw/ AI agent wave, a new pain point has emerged: once your machine's running headless 24/7, you lose visibility. Existing tools like Anthropic's Claude Remote Control are limited to the terminal, and the rest of your desktop is a black box.

Astropad Workbench is a modern remote desktop built specifically for Mac and the new AI age. Now you can babysit your agents from anywhere, without being tethered to your desk:

- Native Mac, iPad, and iPhone apps to remotely control your Mac desktop - Perceptually lossless, low-latency streaming that feels like you're sitting at your machine - Voice input to send text commands directly to your Mac

gdonelli··on Ask HN: Why do managers tend to make more money than engineers?
It's about power, and money is how you keep the score.

Two scenarios:

1. People want to be managers to have more power/control/influence... Then money is needed to keep the score up

2. They happen to become manager, and in a hierarchical structure (company) power/money is how you enforce order

gdonelli··on Ask HN: How did you meet your co-founder(s)?
Matt and I were intern at Apple in 2006. We shared the same apartment in corporate housing in Cupertino. After that summer, we never talked again for 7 years.

I ended up joining Apple for 4 years in California. He decided to stay in the midwest, eventually got married and settled down in Minneapolis. About 7 years later we reconnected over Twitter and we started working together.

Today we do http://astropad.com

Pixelation is expected and by design. We are optimized for displaying high quality still images.

If a large change occurs on your Mac screen and we are unable to keep up, we show pixelated content. This is a signal that we don't have the full screen in yet, and that the screen image is loading. Astropad is honest, when the image is clear, you are assured what you see is the actual content, artifact free.

Sending high image quality over WiFi is really challenging. Ever wonder why we don't have wireless TVs? or Wireless computer displays? It's really really hard to do.

gdonelli··on Astropad – Transform your iPad into a professional graphics tablet
Good suggestion. We actually still have many friends at Apple and left in great terms.

Upon this feature, we build our own palm detection. It works quite well. We have a 7 days free trial, take it for a spin.
