Modern society is too narrow minded about what wealth means. To most people it means fancy watches, cars, homes, etc. To me wealth is about time and freedom. I can pick up the tab at dinner for a group of 12. I can afford to keep my 1972 Schwinn bicycle in tip top shape or my grandfather's jacket mended when it breaks. I can afford to rent forever if I want. I'll never work a job I don't like, I can just quit. I feel more wealthy this way than if I owned 3 lambos and had to work to make ends meet.
I like to do a weight training as the consistent foundation, with a mix of heavy lifts, calisthenics, volume (bodybuilding) training and mobility training. Add in some yoga, rock climbing, biking, soccer. I feel this sort of mix balances movements out which helps with injury prevention and also makes sure you always have something active to do that you enjoy, which is definitely #1.
To me this is a good balance of: - Writing things down is the major benefit for me, writing down on physical paper is even more helpful. - Forces me to garbage collect irrelevant stuff. - I don't need an app or even to buy paper really.
Speaking of, could we start using version control for keeping track of laws and updating old laws? It seems to me like a much better system than randomly burying in a new law that it strikes out some text from an old law.
I’d rather be at the mean income wise in a society with low inequality than in the top percentile of a society that has large inequality. I’ve been both.
I can agree that overspending is not a good thing, but I don’t think the solution is cutting out public programs altogether, I think we should focus on making those programs efficient, eg not making them a charity for multinational corporations that are in great part owned by the very states we consider our “enemies”. Maybe we shouldn’t be lining the pockets of the oil and gas industry, big pharma, etc and instead be lining the pockets of the American people with value through education, opportunity, etc.
Another reason we use DataFusion is multi-tenancy: we found it was hard to use RLS and such to implement multi-tenancy. We’ve had much better luck with the extensibility of DataFusion.
The most important thing is that you share with us WHY you want to self host. Is it compliance? What does that compliance mean (min/max data retention, right to be forgotten, data at rest needs to be geographically located or you have to own it, etc)? This will help us build the “right” kind of features in this area so that it works for you and your company.
We also support logging as an integrated concept into tracing (you can emit events without a duration that are just like a log but carry context of where they were emitted from relative to a trace).
I really don’t understand why we keep shipping through there. Yes, it will cause 2% (the number I found) inflation. We (US) have had worse. Many places survive (albeit with damage) 100% YoY inflation. Let’s just stop escalating conflicts for money, people’s lives and global peace are worth more than that.
