gauravagarwalr··on Ask HN: What audio resources can improve my technical skills during my commute?
Reminds me of http://www.2000books.com/
gauravagarwalr··on [dead]
Interestingly, only the site was down, most probably just unicorn. No new workers were created, or the existing workers were busy. I was still able to do a git clone using the git@github.com:TEAM/REPO.git format.
gauravagarwalr··on Dropbox says it is cash flow positive, in no rush to IPO
This is a bot! Flagged! OTOH Have you tried Google Drive?
gauravagarwalr··on Ruin My Search History
Game Theory: If enough people click this, does Google stop showing stupid ads to everyone eventually?
gauravagarwalr··on MAME is now Free and Open Source Software
Sounds like Copyleft licenses like GPL and LGPL.
gauravagarwalr··on How to Deploy Software
But guys, this is what is being proved. Stop. Don't. Come back.

gauravagarwalr··on Building AI
At that point, would humans really require jobs? And will the value of money still be the same?
gauravagarwalr··on J.C. Bose and the Invention of Radio
And not the be confused with Satyendra Nath Bose, known primarily for his work on Bose-Einstein condensate.
gauravagarwalr··on J.C. Bose and the Invention of Radio
> In those 24 square feet, equipped with instruments of his own design and paid for at his expense, Bose would work wonders and begin to engineer the embryonic field of radio.
gauravagarwalr··on J.C. Bose and the Invention of Radio
Not sure what you are trying to convey by pointing that one line.
gauravagarwalr··on What Could Have Entered the Public Domain on January 1, 2016?
I am very sure if someone else even had made the movies, unless they were good, it wouldn't have mattered.

Look at Fox churning out Fantastic Four movies, which are best to say the least about. Copyrights and IP does not necessarily produce a better content for society.

On the contrary, better content does win in the long run.

gauravagarwalr··on Facebook's “free internet” programme hits a roadblock in India
What I miss from the first line of your response is a source.
gauravagarwalr··on Facebook's “free internet” programme hits a roadblock in India
He is sincere in making FB the internet. Those are never noble intentions. He is all for the money rather than actually giving a service for the greater good. I am sure he realizes that.

If he was sincere, he would have been truthful rather than using every kind of fallacy from https://signposts02.files.wordpress.com/2013/07/logical-fall....

gauravagarwalr··on The History of the Design of Unix’s Find Command (1995)
I have found the `find` command and its API to be the hardest to learn. 3+ years on *NIX machine, spending close to 70% time on the command line when not browsing, and yet I still am not comfortable with `find`.
gauravagarwalr··on Scientists have discovered why running makes you happy
That is the problem. There is no way to read the article without divulging my details.
gauravagarwalr··on Scientists have discovered why running makes you happy
"Your ad blocker is on." No I do not have a adblock installed. I have a hosts file which removes the worst tracking sites over the internet.

On top of this, they have a Subscribe wall. Who exactly runs washingtonpost.com? And why do they need to get personal with me?

Moreover is the content going to add to anything more than we know about endorphins all ready?

gauravagarwalr··on Google’s look, evolved
In some places the favicon is not completely updated, as of this writing: http://google.co.in/favicon.ico

Going by this.. The American astronauts drink Russian Urine and the Russian astronauts drink American Sweat?!
gauravagarwalr··on Exploring the Hacker Tools of Mr. Robot
I guess having an unpopular opinion, gets you down voted here. I hope the down voting was more due to adding an unnecessary opinion here.
gauravagarwalr··on Is Angular 2.0 ready?
Is that official? I get no indication from the site whatsoever , plus the page points to https://twitter.com/juanmacuevas!
gauravagarwalr··on Steam hit by major security breach
If what you are saying is true; did they store the passwords in plain text as well?
gauravagarwalr··on Steam hit by major security breach
Not exactly sure how forgivable this is. But yes, unit testing and writing a few negative scenarios would have caught this problem early on.

How is this on HN FP?
gauravagarwalr··on Hello World
Some of them are the good kind of bugs!
gauravagarwalr··on Hello World
As a consultant, how am I to ever push for this technology to clients and their developers?!
gauravagarwalr··on Understanding Elm
We from TarkaLabs (tarkalabs.com) were able to build and deliver an app in a relatively short span of time which was very similar to one seen at http://www.tiki-toki.com/timeline/entry/137152/Tower-of-Lond....

I agree with the initial learning curve being a bit steep. But once you get the hang of it you tend to see similar concepts in React.js and Haskell (of course - Elm is inspired from Haskell) and a bunch of other places.

gauravagarwalr··on How old do I look?
To downvote it to oblivion! :D
gauravagarwalr··on Hacker's Guide to Setting Up Your Mac
This just screwed up with my settings. I was lucky that I had almost everything backed up.

The problem was with Mackup, in the sense, for it to 'backup' (which I assumed would just copy/paste the files) had actually moved the contents to Dropbox and created the symlinks in place. Therefore not a true backup!! :(

I guess what I am trying to say is that please be VERY SURE of what the 3rd party tool/script does before you use it, cause sometimes you might just 'rm -rf' the seemingly useless artefacts.

Screwing up your work environment is NEVER fun!

gauravagarwalr··on Click on the tile that has a different color
Can't make out the difference between the purple coloured tiles. Color-blindness?
