I wrote an issue for it here: https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/gitlab-ce/issues/29347

This is the part that's ironic - if the US had the same per-capita lethal violence rate as Sweeden except for immigrants who we'll assume murder 100 times as often, it would still be a lot safer than the US is currently!
> People from foreign backgrounds are suspected of crimes more often than people from a Swedish background [...] In a later study, researchers at Stockholm University showed that the main difference in terms of criminal activity between immigrants and others in the population was due to differences in the socioeconomic conditions in which they grew up in Sweden.
So it seems that whilst immigrants are suspected of more crimes than average, they commit the same amount of crime as poor deprived members of indigenous populations.
Right, so the article establishes that clearing systems currently are eyewateringly expensive!

Well maybe - but the whole point of disruptive technologies (mobile phones, uber, etc) is that they can do what existing technologies do at a fraction of the cost.
Not to say that there isn't any hype in this space, but the pie is worth so much that it's surely worth a decent chunk of R&D budget!

It's patently stupid to have the same rules for bikes as it is for cars since they are completely different vehicles.
Now perhaps this is a case of semantics: The Highway Code has rules for all users of highways, but obviously within those rules some apply to cars, some to pedestrians, and some to cyclists. Still point remains that the specific rules are different depending on what vehicle you're in, and we'd be wise to think critically about this.
A good example of this is the Idaho Stop: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Idaho_stop
