Might be a contributing factor.
Thought I'd raise some awareness for this ongoing issue, be it a bug or a feature.
I'm genuinely curious, I sat through an intro to programming & follow-up course in PHP and that line of thinking seemed to confuse the students. They weren't sure of what a function was even though they were using functions! The professor never got around to explaining OO or any fundamentals.
I was thinking the same thing. Hooray for being marriage material.
It seems like a known problem, cars would not stop at any red light period and the driver just forgot to stop because he wasn't paying attention.
ie, they were sent, no longer drafts, and not stuck in the outbox.
Is it just the spam filter?
That's because they want you to be productive. IME/O, having someone on the team that can't really make an app is antithetical.
You could definitely look for a job in QA and ask them to set you up as a dev, then work on dev in your spare work hours.
Why is that? I loathe writing code on paper, seems like it'd be a serious regression.
I was thinking recently that I'd like a liberated Android, found CopperheadOS, but I'm still not sure I'd like to use it on the desktop.

I meant, is going to school for CS worth working at a place like that.
They really aren't willing to make changes, as I said the goal is to push out apps as quickly as possible.
Coming from my previous job, where I was the only developer, I have full jsdocs/phpdocs, quite a few tests and high level user manuals. They have nothing resembling that.
Phantomjs is unnecessary as you won't need to render any JavaScript.
I don't see why you couldn't just make a crawler and test for status codes, but if the site is under DDoS it will time out.
Then, of course, you'll need cron or something to check it at regular intervals. I guess this is probably the most interesting part of the question, at least to me.
I don't think anyone should go to jail, like pretty much ever (let me pay a fine or kill me rather than lock me up), but I don't see a reason why whoever set this up, for example, shouldn't be held liable in the same way a doctor is liable with malpractice insurance to cover it.
It seems it'd fit the US laws very well, tech companies would buy insurance policies that'd pay out when their shit software or infrastructure is hacked.
Huge companies like Google or Apple could self insure.
That'd also give some incentive to the MBA's to take security seriously, as proving they take the extra steps would lower their premiums.
I say it's shitty because they don't follow best practices and just focus on pushing out workflow apps as quickly as possible. No docs, old tooling, etc. Really a mess.
That's the situation I'm in now, first full time job. I majored in business [first economics, then MIS], big mistake. Now I'm working for the uni with plans to get a second bachelor's in CS beginning in the Fall (for free).
People always ask me why I majored in business. I've had recruiters say to me "Have you considered a minor in CS", etc. despite a very nice portfolio and 2 years worth of clients.
So, since I must deal with HR and would like to be taken seriously as an engineer, I'm going against the advice of the great Charles Manson and going out of my way to prove something to the phonies.
Plus, I wanna learn my maths much better but can't bring myself to go it alone so I figure it's worth it in that regard.
I just think it's odd to say that Trump should be impeached for something his opponent did while in office.
As a developer (clear distinction from designer) my favorite thing about mobile development is the UI components. I can create something much more compelling with MD with much less effort.
alert("hello world"); prompt("hello world");
console.log("hello world"); console.info("hello world"); console.warn("hello world");
process.stdout.write("hello world");
Very much looking forward to the switch.
Think of this in relation to thought crime, from 1984 by George Orwell. You say to yourself, "Okay, I am depressed. I have thoughts of suicide and in general, I am miserable 24/7. Let's stop"
What do you do when, untriggered, a mistake from your past or even a happy memory of what once was comes to the front of your mind and you begin to dwell on it?
Do you tell yourself "Okay, stop thinking about this now"?
It doesn't really work like that, especially when you don't have someone to talk to.
I've struggled with these things for some time, largely alone. For me and a lot of people I've come across, depression isn't just sadness, or immense sadeness.
Depression is hopelessness, dread, [lots of] anxiety, self loathing and loneliness.
Depression is wanting so badly for someone to help but the few that are willing can't since you're unable to articulate what you need because you don't even know.
Depression makes you feel isolated and different from all of the people around you, forces you to be withdrawn. You want to break out so badly but you can't, and at worst people (friends and strangers alike) actively avoid you because you seem so off. Conversations are ended abruptly, odd looks are given, and that just adds to all the stress.
Its my favorite hobby, I love creating things, but I often couldn't bring myself to open the text editor or even open my laptop. When I did, I was constantly distracted.
Honestly, I still love to code but I'm yet to find the same gusto even still, when I'm markedly better but not feeling as secure as I was before.
I don't know how writers and other creatives can pull it off when they're depressed, I know I'm much better at it when I'm feeling stable.
Ask HN: how have ya'll delt with depression, other than psychoactive drugs?
What I mean is, it's pretty ignorant that just because authentication isn't on by default you don't turn it on at all.
Even if you don't want to or don't think to configure mongodb itself setting up a firewall also seems to be common sense.
Thus, the only reason they'd be unsecured is they're either for random tests or hobby.
... works for me
