fxbl0i··on A German court forced the removal of a Wikipedia article’s history
Well, it depends. The EU doesn't like free speech; archive.org is not exempt (April 10th):

fxbl0i··on You Don't Have to Like Assange to Defend Him
I really hope you're being facetious when you say you wonder whether the other guy was being facetious ;P
fxbl0i··on Pentagon names Microsoft and Amazon as $10B cloud contract finalists
>you don't want anything you work on to be used by the government

Is this the work of some kind of extremist libertarian branch inside of Microsoft?

fxbl0i··on Many Chinese suffer discrimination based on their regional origin
No, I'm not saying before we can criticise China we have to fix the rest of the world. Tribalism is normal and healthy, and there's nothing to fix.
fxbl0i··on Many Chinese suffer discrimination based on their regional origin
That has nothing to do with the subject at hand. You are conflating issues.
fxbl0i··on Many Chinese suffer discrimination based on their regional origin
It's not whataboutism, I'm saying that this is perfectly normal and therefore I don't think it's valid criticism of China in particular.
fxbl0i··on Many Chinese suffer discrimination based on their regional origin
So, like everywhere in the world? This China bashing is getting stupid.
fxbl0i··on Wikipedia isn’t officially a social network, but the harassment can get ugly
It is not good or bad, it is what it is. Unless biographies of females are actively being suppressed, it is simply irrelevant: they are not being created because nobody cares, literally.
fxbl0i··on Wikipedia isn’t officially a social network, but the harassment can get ugly
There are many more biographies of males than of females on Wikipedia. Whatever the reason for that might be is up to debate.
fxbl0i··on Julian Assange arrested in London
What crimes did he commit? Honest question. I heard that someone accused him of being a rapist but then dropped the charges so I guess it was false. What else is there?
fxbl0i··on JQuery 3.4.0 Released
I assume people who don't think about DOM manipulation and the performance toll it takes are responsible for how slow the web is today and, what's even worse, how that waste of CPU has been pushed from the server to the client.
fxbl0i··on EU Agencies Falsely Report More Than 550 Archive.org URLs as Terrorist Content
I've been on the Internet my entire life and not even once I've seen something I didn't want or expect to see. It's simply not possible to force people to watch a several minutes long video or read a manifesto with dozens of pages, so I don't understand this sentiment.
fxbl0i··on EU Agencies Falsely Report More Than 550 Archive.org URLs as Terrorist Content
The European Court of Human Rights upheld a conviction in 2018 for "disparagement of religious precepts" because a woman in Austria said that Muhammad was a paedophile (which is correct, since according to the Quran, Muhammad had sex with a 9 year old whom he had married when she was 6):

fxbl0i··on GitHub Has Become a Haven for China's Censored Internet Users
Because a) politics is an extremely divisive topic which leads easily to flame wars and b) politics is completely unrelated to software development, so there's absolutely no reason to deal with a) in the context of software development.
fxbl0i··on Tesla Model 3 becomes best-selling car in Switzerland
Interesting. Can't you wrap the antenna in a Faraday cage, or simply disconnect it?
fxbl0i··on GitHub Has Become a Haven for China's Censored Internet Users
No, I said I believe it to be inappropriate to use your position in a public software project to push your politics. I didn't ask for "restrictions on ideological content". Believing something to be inappropriate doesn't mean I think it should be forbidden or restricted.
fxbl0i··on GitHub Has Become a Haven for China's Censored Internet Users
It's not only about that. We all have our political ideas and I don't want anybody to shove theirs up my butt while I am in github; if I want to read that kind of stuff I'll look at twitter or facebook, thanks.
fxbl0i··on GitHub Has Become a Haven for China's Censored Internet Users
I find it concerning that someone might think it's appropriate to add political messages to software projects. Imagine if some software developer added a "fuck Bernie Sanders!!!" remark to the README of a popular repo. Just my two cents.
fxbl0i··on Nations of the Amazon are seeking “shared governance” of the .amazon TLD
"Amazon" is the English spelling of the original name, so it could be argued it's a made-up word too.
fxbl0i··on Reasons to turn down the transmit power of your Wi-Fi (2017)
Many of those depend on all of your neighbours doing the same thing. They won't, so you'll be the loser. I don't want to be the loser.
fxbl0i··on Privacy Pass
Are people actually downvoting this comment just because it's not politically correct?

I mean, you could argue that it's not fair to discriminate entire countries because of the lax abuse policy of their ISPs, but the comment is correct: that's the reason those countries are discriminated against in this context.

fxbl0i··on It is your moral obligation to use Firefox
It is Mozilla Corporation's leadership moral obligation to resign for their privacy scandals and mismanagement of Firefox.
fxbl0i··on Protections Against Fingerprinting and Crypto Mining in Firefox Nightly and Beta
Controversial != useless. I don't like they wasted money on Firefox OS or Persona; I don't want to donate to them if my money goes there instead of to Firefox. In fact, why not let us decide where exactly our money will go if we donate?
fxbl0i··on Show HN: WindowsKnowHow – A video guide to Windows 10
Length of videos should be expressed in x:xx, not x.xx
fxbl0i··on Google features that Microsoft turned off in Chromium Edge
Chrome is still faster. It's natural (and healthy) that users choose the fastest choice.
fxbl0i··on Google features that Microsoft turned off in Chromium Edge
It doesn't use Gecko.
fxbl0i··on Chromium-based Edge preview builds
This wasn't necessary, they just had to get rid of the slow, ugly UWP UI framework. The Edge rendering engine was fine.

It looks like this new Edge uses Win32 instead of UWP, so people will actually use it, and they'll pat their own backs thinking the problem was the rendering engine. No, it was the stupid UI framework. >:(

fxbl0i··on Chromium-based Edge preview builds
This new Edge seems to reuse the cookie jar, history, etc. of the real Edge, so emp_ is probably already logged in to his Google account on the real Edge. (Corrections welcome, but it's what I've noticed after trying it.)
fxbl0i··on A majority of consumers do not expect Google to track their activities
I doubt it. Firefox has had a few privacy scandals of their own, but as long as they are marginally better than Google, they'll keep having a fervent user base.
fxbl0i··on A majority of consumers do not expect Google to track their activities
How many of those consumers expect to keep using Google services for free?
