Linux does not, because they want all drivers to be inlined (included in the kernel) and open source. nVidia does not want to release their trade secrets, so they don't want to open source their drivers.
(No idea about macOS)
If they stick an ad blocker by default, something the Mozilla Corporation hasn't got the balls to do, they will definitely get some market share.
btw, if you use Chrome and you see an SSL error, just type "thisisunsafe" and it will load the webpage. Try it here: https://expired.badssl.com/
Of course if your baseline is a wordpress site where every page weighs 3 MB and takes 2 seconds to generate when there's no server load, then this might seem like black magic to you
Everybody has heard about all these things on the telly, on online newspapers, etc. The media launched a massive campaign against Facebook. It didn't work. People find value in Facebook and they don't care about your predicament. Let people enjoy things!
I've been using PayPal for like 15 years and I've never had a problem with it. "Until you do" is not an acceptable answer to my question. Things work until they don't, that's not a reason not to use them.
You only get to read this kind of stuff in HN.
It's funny because, back when Safari had just launched this, designers went crazy with ways of emulating it for those who didn't have Safari. Now they do the opposite. Designers are a plague on earth.
GNOME does not run at all without systemd.
Even the biggest Linux distros, like Gentoo, struggle to create a patchset to modify GNOME so it does not require systemd; every new version of GNOME takes months to reach Gentoo stable. Most distros have bent the knee and switched to systemd because they had no other option, as GNOME is the most used Linux desktop so they kinda call the shots.
Friendly reminder that they managed to infiltrate all distros by creating a hard dependency from GNOME to systemd, which they could only pull off because both projects belong to the same corporation.
If you don't think that's just insane... well I'm just getting old I guess.
