fuzz4lyfe··on Uber proposes policy that would pay drivers a minimum wage of $21 per hour
They disagreed with me about housing prices as well a decade or so ago as well.
fuzz4lyfe··on Uber proposes policy that would pay drivers a minimum wage of $21 per hour
I'm not talking about weimar republic style hyperinflation my feeling is more on the order of 5 - 12% (maybe not even by CPI standards). Essentially 1970's style stagflation again. CA wages are already high a few years of that and Uber will be back at baseline.
fuzz4lyfe··on Uber proposes policy that would pay drivers a minimum wage of $21 per hour
>As soon as the competition is dead they'll be talking about how non-viable $21/hr is.

Won't even have to do that, wait for inflation to take hold (I believe inflation is very likely to explode in the next few years) and just ride it out.

fuzz4lyfe··on A man who destroyed his multimillion dollar company in 10 seconds (2018)
In the same sense the climate change effects are also priced in as most people in the west use air travel or add enough carbon via other means to have to be personally responsible for any ill effects.
fuzz4lyfe··on A man who destroyed his multimillion dollar company in 10 seconds (2018)
So if we priced airlines in regards to all of their externalities, they would have to pay for climate change but would get a portion of the all revenue derived by business trips (ie. the time saved traveling by air compared to other modes of transport and what the employees traveling would have been able to produce during that time). I wonder if they would end up better off under that system.

Care to outline exactly how that would be done? Or what alternative you see?

fuzz4lyfe··on After September 18th, you’ll no longer be able to send messages on YouTube
People like to play the victim. They will leave private messages on, get messages they don't like, and then produce bad PR for YouTube due to this. It's honestly the right move strategically given their goals.
fuzz4lyfe··on Preindustrial workers worked fewer hours than today's (2009)
>Who would punish them? The customers?

Future potential employees. If I go on glassdoor and read about this happening I'm either going to

A: raise my rates as I need to keep a larger emergency fund to deal with these guys

B: decline to work there at all

They end up only ever getting entry level kids to work for them. The system sort of works in that regard if you come from a non-traditional background you can work for a year or two at a job like that, skill up and move on.

fuzz4lyfe··on Mortgage Market Reopens to Risky Borrowers
>Even if the subprime-to-prime ratio hasn't changed much, a large increase in the ballooning subprime total may still be newsworthy in its own right.

Wouldn't the news there be that the total number of mortgages have grown dramatically? Unless you have a narrative to push that is.

fuzz4lyfe··on Elizabeth Warren Came Up with a Plan to Break Up Big Tech
In what way is a "public option"[0] not socialised medicine?

> In the 2008 Obama-Biden health care plan on the campaign’s website, candidate Obama promised that “any American will have the opportunity to enroll in [a] new public plan.”

fuzz4lyfe··on Elizabeth Warren Came Up with a Plan to Break Up Big Tech
It won't even get that far. This proposal will be watered down and will be implemented in such a way that Google, Facebook etc will be protected from any harm and this law will only serve to hamper new entrants and protect the incumbents position.

At this stage of the election cycle a few presidential elections ago Obama was promising socialized medicine if elected, what we got from a democratically controlled house and senate was Obamacare. This is what always happens.

I'm probably on the spectrum the way I read that is it's the managers feelings that are the root of the problem. The manager learns to manage his/her feelings and the problem is resolved.

fuzz4lyfe··on Apple files lawsuit against Corellium for iOS emulation
>“Although Corellium paints itself as providing a research tool for those trying to discover security vulnerabilities and other flaws in Apple’s software, Corellium’s true goal is profiting off its blatant infringement,” Apple said in the complaint. “Far from assisting in fixing vulnerabilities, Corellium encourages its users to sell any discovered information on the open market to the highest bidder.”

Why doesn't Apple simply outbid whomever is outbidding them? Why is Apple entitled to security research at anything less than the current market rate?

fuzz4lyfe··on How to Pay Programmers Less (2016)
Pretending to be naive can be useful from time to time.

"I'm sorry, I have dietary restrictions that prevents me from enjoying the free lunch. It would be a great bonus if I was able. How about this you forgo the large cost of the free lunch and instead pay me the minor amount of overtime for the rare times I'm called out." (they always present that you will rarely be required to fix something off hours, call that bluff)

The only directions they can go is "Well that will cost more than the free lunch" or "we demand it" so either you win the argument by having them make your point for you or you will have a nice casus belli to find a new job.

fuzz4lyfe··on Yield Curves Invert in U.S., U.K

I feel like this while correct will look funny in the context of history. I believe inflation will explode in the next 5 years with near zero interest rates and the fed printing money for all the programs we hear about during the recent debates.
