furgooswft13··on Millennials Killed the Mayonnaise Industry (2018)
Well at least they did something worthwhile. I always ask for no mayo on my burgers, but they still often fuck it up!

furgooswft13··on Germany locks down unvaccinated people, as leaders plan to make shots compulsory
North Korea also claims to be a democracy.
furgooswft13··on Germany locks down unvaccinated people, as leaders plan to make shots compulsory
"X poses risk to others therefore you have no choice" is a statement that can be made for nearly any scenario. To wit:

Uncontrolled flying bodies pose additional risks when there are multiple people in the vehicle. There's also the risk of driving to begin with, for people both in and outside the vehicle.

The risks of harm to you _and_ others from crashing a car are probably higher at this point than that of a vaxxed person getting seriously ill from covid.

But anyway the point I was making was to refute GP's statement that seat belt laws and the pushback around them are the same as for the vax mandates. They are not, because the vax is permanent, and the consequences for non-compliance much higher. The fact that you can't "take the vax off" is part of these stakes that are not the same.

furgooswft13··on Facebook reverses Kyle Rittenhouse policy
Did Facebook ban statements of support for Darrell Brooks, of the Waukesha Christmas parade massacre? Legit question, I don't know the answer but if they want to be consistent they should (I'm guessing they don't, and they did not).
furgooswft13··on Humans Are Doomed to Go Extinct
Scientific American is doomed to go out of business.

Clickbait is eternal though.

furgooswft13··on Germany locks down unvaccinated people, as leaders plan to make shots compulsory
You can take the seat belt off when the car ride is over. Also if you are caught without one you get a small fine, but you don't lose your job and the ability to participate in society.
furgooswft13··on Tech journalism is less diverse than tech (2020)
Yes.
furgooswft13··on YouTube takes down independent court livestreams
Remember when Google employees made a big stink about Project Dragonfly (censored search for China) and got it "cancelled"? Pepperidge Farm does.

Now just wait a few days for a wild "whistleblower" to appear claiming Google coulda censored shit _even sooner_.

furgooswft13··on New method shows today’s warming ‘unprecedented’ over past 24,000 years
This is a fascinating comment. It caters both to fears of climate catastrophe and fears of authoritarian dystopia. Most responses to it are unaware of this duality and instinctively project one side onto it's motives.

My own biases lead me to believe it is warning of a dystopian society because of human political activity, not anthropogenic climate change. I may be wrong, and so far many of the responses are taking the opposite position.

furgooswft13··on Pfizer CEO Says People Who Spread Covid Vaccine Misinformation Are ‘Criminals'
I agree, this guy is indeed a criminal.
furgooswft13··on Are people lying more since the rise of social media and smartphones?
It's much harder to lie face-to-face. Your body language will give you away unless you are well practiced at lying and deception (sales people, politicians, actors etc.).
furgooswft13··on Organized retail criminals are making the most of San Francisco’s urban chaos
The lie is that they are racist today, not 50+ years ago.

The examples in that list of controversies are weak to say the least. In each case that could vaguely be considered racism or antisemitism, the higher ups at the magazine issued a rebuke and often dismissed the writer. Is this really all you got?

Meanwhile, the NYT posts shit like this: https://www.nytimes.com/2017/11/11/opinion/sunday/interracia...

furgooswft13··on Organized retail criminals are making the most of San Francisco’s urban chaos
I'll take non sequitur snark over ad hominem lies any day.

furgooswft13··on SARS–CoV–2 Spike Impairs DNA Damage Repair and Inhibits V(D)J Recombination
We're not frustrated about covid. Covid is not a threat of any significance. It never was. The threat, from the beginning, is the absurd hysteria around it.

furgooswft13··on It’s Time to Contemplate the End of the Crisis
> it’s about preventing a staggeringly huge number of people from being incapacitated or impaired or relatively short-lived.

I mean if you want to keep believing this nonsense, you're welcome to all the booster shots in the world.

Now tell me how climate change will soon kill us all until even more of our rights are stripped for the greater good.

furgooswft13··on It’s Time to Contemplate the End of the Crisis
haha the Biden administration literally just today (the day after getting annihilated in VA) codified the previously announced OSHA regulations requiring "large" employers to mandate the vaccine to employees under the threat of hefty fines.

They clearly planned the timing of this release to avoid negatively affecting Democrat chances before election day. They know it's a losing subject among moderates and independents. They know it's a loser for the economy because they further delayed enforcement until after the holiday season. They don't care about any of that because in the end it's all about power and control.

furgooswft13··on Ask HN: What unprecedented measures could be taken to stop climate change?
> wouldn't it be better to go after the demand for energy from fossil fuels, instead of supply? I wonder if there has ever been a large scale attempt at this

There has been, it's called the "global pandemic". The world will never find a better way to attack demand for energy consumption in such a short period. And you did not even notice. Your post would have fit perfectly well in HN circa 2019.

> What unprecedented measures could be taken to stop climate change?

Easy. Stop talking about it. Unthinkable I know. But I guarantee you life would go on and we'd all find other things to overreact to. Just like the "pandemic".

furgooswft13··on Julian Assange Extradition Appeal: Day 2
When you can even find an article about Assange from these mainstream rags, buried under pages of coivd/climate/race-baiting "news", it is invariably in support of his continued incarceration and punishment.
furgooswft13··on National Intelligence Estimate on Climate Change [pdf]
I have also gotten sick on occasion.

Seems like you are a person prone to live in fear. Surely once you recover from your illness, you will continue to live in fear because of climate change, and if that was ever somehow resolved to your satisfaction, you'd find something else to provide your fear fix.

Hopefully your young son will grow above and beyond this negative influence, and maybe even teach you that there is more to life than constant anxiety and anger about the End Times. Good luck.

furgooswft13··on National Intelligence Estimate on Climate Change [pdf]
Constant fear mongering propaganda would not be necessary if the fear was justified.
furgooswft13··on National Intelligence Estimate on Climate Change [pdf]
> but I am 100% sure your scenario where everyone traveled without masks around the world and in public places is much better

Add no lockdowns, mandates, or constant fear mongering; then yes, much better.
