funOtter··on How I spend less time on YouTube
Thanks! I'll look into that. Is there a good way to track a "to watch" list using youtube RSS and MPV?
funOtter··on The Session Extension
I'm not familiar - for what do you use sqlite Fossil?
funOtter··on How I spend less time on YouTube
I turn off "viewing history" and then only subscribe to the channels I am interested in, and ONLY visit https://www.youtube.com/feed/subscriptions

funOtter··on Microsoft to Block Windows 11 Browser Workarounds
I have gone through that cycle before, but this time after switching to Linux Mint now for ~6 months, it seems like Linux is sticking.

What is _why?
funOtter··on 1.1.1.1 for Families
Posted 2020-04-01 ... why is it relevant now?
funOtter··on Magit, the magical Git interface (2017)
" Posted on 1st September 2017 " I'm surprised this has been around for so long and I have not heard of it.
funOtter··on GitHub degraded performance – resolved
I was just doing some development on my GitHub Actions ... can only assume it was my fault.
funOtter··on Disney’s shift to streaming puts ESPN clinging to the past
It seems like ESPN has a hard road ahead. Every sports league will create their own subscription plan, removing live sports from ESPN. I suspect ESPN can succeed if they embrace analysis and personalities - they need to focus on creating content (for example, a youtuber-style "huge fan of baseball" show could be popular).
funOtter··on Why I'm donating $150/month (10% of my income) to the musl Libc project (2019)
I'm interested: why join this when you can simply donate 10% to charities without joining this?
funOtter··on Mozilla to put ads in Firefox address bar suggestions
I think logging a bug to remove this associated functionality might have been more "Valid."
funOtter··on “looks like Firefox quietly added ads into the address bar”
As a Firefox user, I am very disappointed at this change.
funOtter··on New York Public Library ends all late fees
Since my library started this policy I have noticed that average time to get desirable but limited materials (like video games) have gone way up, because nobody cares to return them in the allotted time.
funOtter··on Estimated 216,000 children abused by French Catholic priests, report finds
> The report found an _estimated_ 216,000 children were victims of sexual violence by French Catholic priests, deacons and other clergy from 1950 to 2020. When lay members of the Church, such as teachers and catechism supervisors, were included, the figure rose to at least 330,000 children sexually abused over 70 years.

How did they do this estimation? The article does not say.

funOtter··on What if Chrome broke features of the web and Google forgot to tell anyone?
> Emily Stark writes: "Breaking changes happen often on the web, and as a developer it's good practice to test against early release channels of major browsers to learn about any compatibility issues upfront." ... First, she is flat out wrong – breaking changes happen very rarely on the web ... But second, and far more disturbing, is the notion that web developers should be continually testing their websites against early releases of major browsers. That's actually why there are web standards – so developers don't have to do ridiculous things like continually test their websites to make sure they're still working

Yes, so true. Concerning that a Google Chrome engineer does not know this.

funOtter··on Why is everything so hard in a large organization?
Once an organization gets large enough, the different divisions start competing with each other, essentially making several "smaller companies" within the large organization.
funOtter··on YouTube is banning anti-vaccine activists and blocking all anti-vaccine content
