fumar··on Gemini 4 Argon
Is there a dividing line between good enough and best in class capabilities? It's blurry from where I stand. Will model makers cede ground or is there a market making moment up for grabs (singularity)?
fumar··on Toyota is taking the Corolla electric
Are you saying EV owners are new to car ownership? Do you have sources for your claims? I have a hard time following your logic.
fumar··on CursorBench 3.1
It’s fast and affordable.
fumar··on Anthropic employees accuse Trump administration of targeting them
Is regulation unregulated in the US? As in it’s missing consistency and transparency. Beyond Anthropic, the US signals to the world that depending and using American solutions is high risk. Is that what the US government desires? The digital battleground across regions is on the rise. I don’t see us as the US on the right path.
fumar··on Claude Fable 5
Same I am working on music firmware for existing device. I can't proceed as it keeps switching to Opus.
fumar··on Ask HN: Are you still using a Vision Pro?
This is why I haven't bought one again. I had an M2 and sold it. Then I was thinking I missed it and bought a used Galaxy XR. It is not bad for watching movies. It is close to the same experience for video consumption but significantly worse for everything else. I am always itching to get an M5 AVP, but the org changes are red flags. I will end up with a $4k paper weight.
fumar··on Green card seekers must leave U.S. to apply, Trump administration says
It is not as a country. Certain regions within the nation are still growing.

A false flag to what?
fumar··on Googlebook
I don’t think any portable laptop can beat the MacBook Neo on price and value this year.
fumar··on Apple reports second quarter results
That was a different era of consumer behavior. Consumers are hyper targeted with personalized organic and paid messages. The algorithmic media ecosystem mitigates or counters complex product offerings. For example, my YouTube feed displays Apple Pro devices reviews over other lines like iPad basic. Also, purchase power acts as a natural filter.
fumar··on SpaceX says it has agreement to acquire Cursor for $60B
Cursor is my favorite of the VS forks. Agree that it delivers better plans than others. I prefer using Claude in Cursor over CC CLI when I am heads down going through bugs. I am disappointed in how "little value" in token use Cursor provides compared to others.
fumar··on Anonymous request-token comparisons from Opus 4.6 and Opus 4.7
On API use, I am noticing verbose output across the board. When I task it with plans it now creates more detailed task counts and tasks descriptions. It is more constrained to its directions than 4.6.
fumar··on Claude Opus 4.7
It is the rush of "wow it solved this." I should take a break and work on something else, but in the back of my mind "what else can it solve?" Then I come up with extra work and sometimes lose at the LLM casino.
fumar··on There's yet another study about how bad AI is for our brains
It feels like every other convenience in modern life. We trade off some value for lack of human ability. Should you drive or walk or bike? In the US, most people drive and sit all day. Now we have fenced off part of our week for dedicated physical exercise to counteract physical atrophy.
fumar··on Discord will require a face scan or ID for full access next month
What is the purpose of repealing this act? Make platforms liable and thus enact more restrictions, is that right?
fumar··on X offices raided in France as UK opens fresh investigation into Grok
Define leftist for back in the twitter days? I used twitter early in release. Don’t recall it being a faction specific platform.
fumar··on Google AI Overviews cite YouTube more than any medical site for health queries
Users a can turn off grounded search in the Gemini API. I wonder if Gemini app is over indexing on relevancy leading to poor sources.
fumar··on The tech monoculture is finally breaking
Why is android bad here? An android launcher can create the illusion of a single purpose device. What difference does it make? Battery life?

fumar··on Google is dead. Where do we go now?
We don’t know any details on OP’s ad campaign. Did they happen to make any errors? Is holiday the most competitive time? Bids?
fumar··on Rivian's TM-B electric bike
I would rather just pick up a Maeving RMS or a CE 02. TM-B weighs 90 lbs and is not quite a scooter or bike.
fumar··on The death of industrial design and the era of dull electronics
I eye the TE TP7 on my desk. I use it most days. Its design speaks to my millennial taste like candy. Sometimes I just hold it in my hand like I did with my Walkman or discmans of my youth. I admit some of the yarning is for nostalgia. Yet, surely task specific devices can offer better utility than single screen slabs in certain cases.
fumar··on Helium Browser
Isn’t Safari 30% of browser share in the US?
fumar··on iPhone Air
I have an OG Pixel Fold and the inner screen is flawless. My iPhone 14 Pro screen is visibly scratched. The Fold replaced tablets and e readers for me.
fumar··on 303Gen – 303 acid loops generator
Export midi or realtime output midi.
fumar··on Telo MT1
The argument Telo makes is that you can have high utility in a smaller vehicle designed well. I was my own GC for a site-built home and sub contracted out many parts of it. I did it while owning a 2 door Mini SE. Only twice did I need to rent truck from my local Home Depot to haul some unwieldy and heavy debris. Most stores will deliver what you need (lumber, large pipes, insulation, etc) because consumer trucks are rarely large enough. I would not have been able to load any significant amount of lumber into an F250. That leaves large vehicles for recreation or family space. I hope car manufacturers rethink vehicle packaging now that EV motors and batteries allow for different confirmations like putting the motor in the wheel hub.

And, the sub contractors - the ones doing the work (immigrants) - they had a wide variety of vehicles. I took note that some had Camrys, Prius, old Golfs, small picks ups like Rangers, and some older mid size trucks that were visually heavily used. Else, they used commercial trucks or vans. When did I see the prestigious full cab F150s or Silverado RTs? When I originally interviewed GCs which is when I noticed they drove their clean and new trucks.

fumar··on Telo MT1
This is a breath of fresh air. Modern pick up trucks post-2017 are giant vehicles with high danger to pedestrians. They are often touted as off road capable with high utility, and I see them in pristine condition on city streets hauling a totality of one human.
