fullstop··on Setting up a free *.city.state.us locality domain (2025)
It's probably an attempt to maximize search hits. I wonder if they would always be provided if your user-agent matched google's webcrawler UA.

The last email address in your link, the sbcglobal one, is for someone else entirely. She's involved in the church in Springfield, IL. I assume that she got tied in by Mark's surname.

fullstop··on Setting up a free *.city.state.us locality domain
I had found that person, and thought that it could be him. The site that I used did not provide an email address, though. Even the link that you provided shows other addresses than that to me.

I used to have some domains registered with "theparsec.com", and would communicate with the owner, "ML", on occasion. It was great, he was responsive and helped me out if an order didn't go through for some reason.

In 2022, their TLS certificates were off -- a subdomain used by a backend redirect process was no longer valid, so I contacted "ML" and they were unresponsive. I managed to get my domains to a new register by ignoring some TLS warnings and transferring them. As of July of 2022, I have not heard from "ML" and I assume that he passed away. I don't know their identity or what became of them. All I know is that their name is/was Mark.

fullstop··on OpenAI’s o1 correctly diagnosed 67% of ER patients vs. 50-55% by triage doctors
Yes, let's pretend that the bias does not exist, that is helpful. It certainly doesn't have to do with the fact that it's currently a 60/40 split in active male vs female physicians. Or that women are more likely to be taken seriously by doctors:

    * https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10937548/
Are you really unwilling to admit that such a bias exists?
fullstop··on OpenAI’s o1 correctly diagnosed 67% of ER patients vs. 50-55% by triage doctors
Perhaps I wasn't as clear as I could have been. My point was that doctors treat women differently than men, even when they're the parents. I don't think that it's inherently malicious, but there is absolutely a bias.

You are asking how it connects, and it absolutely doesn't. But they keep asking and won't accept "it's regular" as an answer.

She's in her 20s and is seeing her primary for routine things, not because of her weight -- that part of the story was about how they chastised my wife for giving her whole milk but said absolutely nothing to me about it later on.

fullstop··on OpenAI’s o1 correctly diagnosed 67% of ER patients vs. 50-55% by triage doctors
She's not there about her weight, though. I highly encourage you to talk to women about their experiences here.

The weight thing was not the key aspect of my original comment. They chastised my wife for continuing to give my daughter whole milk while being underweight, but did not make similar comments to me. That was the point.

For women, their pains and problems are far too often whisked away by hand waving and "it's hormones and periods" and serious issues are often overlooked. Very little has changed in that area over the last twenty years.

fullstop··on OpenAI’s o1 correctly diagnosed 67% of ER patients vs. 50-55% by triage doctors
You're very much over thinking this. That's the first question every doctor asks a woman, and legitimate problems are often overlooked because of it.

Hey, man, drink what you want. It doesn't change my life in any way, shape, or form. But I have to ask, have you seen the image describing where decaf coffee comes from?

I do find it amusing. But drink your decaf, brother, do what works for you.

fullstop··on OpenAI’s o1 correctly diagnosed 67% of ER patients vs. 50-55% by triage doctors
Yes, yes, but when was your last period?

This even translates to the pediatric space. I took all of my kids to the pediatrician because either they don't make comments to me like they do to my wife, or I don't take shit from them. I'm not sure which. Here's an example:

My wife and daughter were there and the doctor asked what kind of milk my daughter was drinking. She said "whole milk" and the doctor made a comment along the lines of "Wow, mom, you really need to switch to 2%". To understand this, though, you need to understand that my daughter was _small_. Like they had to staple a 2nd sheet of paper to the weight chart because she was below the available graph space. It wasn't from lack of food or anything like that, she's just small and didn't have much of an appetite.

So I became the one to take the kids there. Instead of chastising me, they literally prescribed cheeseburgers and fettuccine alfredo.

My daughter is in her 20s now and is still small -- it's just the way she is. When she goes to see her primary, do you know what their first question is? "When was your last period."

fullstop··on Fix monitor that goes black, off or blinks due to static electricity in chair
I replaced some ceiling boob lights with flush-mounted LED panels -- they are a nice warm color, and I like them. I have a UHF/VHF antenna in my attic and I use it once a year to watch the Superbowl.

I found out this year that my reception is horrendous if those lights are on. The coax cable which goes from the attic to the TV downstairs runs right above the lights and the LED driver / PWM noise must couple with the coaxial cable. I'm not running anything fancy like RG6 since I just re-used whatever cable was already run up there from the 70s.

Yes, but I already require libevent and friends. The overhead, compared to "screen" was worth it, and I get split windows.
fullstop··on Make tmux pretty and usable (2024)
So I looked into this at one point. Apparently there are ways to reduce binary size.

When I first started learning Rust, my "hello wold" binary was HUGE.

fullstop··on Make tmux pretty and usable (2024)
I have a few embedded devices where flash space is limited. tmux is so much smaller than zellij, and it's not even close.

Zellij is close to 50 megabytes, but tmux and all dependent libraries (minus libc, it's always there) is about 2 megabytes.

It seems like the best way to get WiFi working in FreeBSD is to run Linux in bhyve and tunnel your connections through there.
fullstop··on Steam on Linux Use Skyrocketed Above 5% in March
I've been using an immutable Linux for the last year or so, and it's gone quite well, but not without pain points.

There's a lot of stuff that I do which does not have a flatpak or package baked in. To get around this, I've been using distrobox to run these things in Ubuntu containers. So I will do "distrobox enter sdr" to have a terminal open up in that environment. You can export applications so that they show up in the applications list. It really takes some experience to shift your mindset, but it was worth it for me.

fullstop··on Desk for people who work at home with a cat
Exactly this. Cats just like fresh things that don't currently smell like cat. That can be a new sheet of paper on the table, a new cardboard box, freshly folded laundry, etc.
fullstop··on Desk for people who work at home with a cat
I have food periodically delivered from Chewy, and I keep the box. Each month, the old box is recycled and the new box is put to use: https://i.imgur.com/lFgp63O.jpeg

There is definitely an attraction aspect related the "freshness" of the box, as there are squabbles over which cat gets to use the new box. These squabbles wane over time, until the new box arrives.

For John Bradley, it is xv and xcalc.

For Hisham Muhammad it is htop and LuaRocks.

And for Jason Donenfeld it is wireguard and cgit.

Perhaps some of you have other examples.

fullstop··on General Motors is assisting with the restoration of a rare EV1
It's actually quite fluid and mostly lag-free.

I've dealt with a lot of cheap android devices over the years, and GM did a good job with this one. It kind of sucks knowing that they could flip a switch and turn on AA/CarPlay, though.

fullstop··on General Motors Is Assisting with the Restoration of a Rare EV1
These cars are sold with data plans which last quite a few years. What model year is your Blazer? I think that my Equinox has app access for 3 years and maps / google assistant for 8 years. I've tested tethering with my phone and it works with that, so I have a path forward once the built-in subscription lapses.

This is the one that I saw: https://evplay.io/shop/ev-play-lite-gm

It's kind of expensive, and there's a non-zero chance that GM does something to block it.

fullstop··on General Motors is assisting with the restoration of a rare EV1
I've been satisfied with Android Automotive on my Equinox EV. I did see that there are USB dongles which can allegedly add Android Auto to the car.
fullstop··on General Motors is assisting with the restoration of a rare EV1
It's based on the Blazer, and is larger than an Equinox EV.
