Trac is awesome, but it doesn't really understand bzr branches and such, so linking to code from inside Trac is a little weird. If you'll be using DVCS, shop around for something more congruent.
Also, browsing a bzr repo from Trac is pretty slow.
I go through my ideas directory about once a week to keep things fresh.
Org Mode has built-in outlining support, date tags that bring items onto your calendar in several ways, and a ton of other features.
I tried it out for GTD a few months ago and got very quickly hooked. Until then I had been planning on writing my own web-based system.
Did you do anything in your installations to address that problem? If so, what was it?
I prefer to think in terms of "personal industry" rather than "startup." Personal industry used to be the normal case, with people building their own house, planting their own fields, and so on. I think it's rather odd and sad that so many of us get caught up in corporate life. I have more feelings about this, but am having trouble articulating them
Anyway, to answer the when?: Until I'm so old and decrepit that my children are taking care of me.
Pick a venture that lets you get out more than you put in, eh?
Learning from lectures may be very good to get a handle on the basics. You may learn the facts faster, and keep motivation up.
But to learn beyond the basics, especially areas that are less likely to be covered at your local community college, you should learn how to learn from a book (this is different than learning from books in other subjects).
Perhaps, if you take some lectures, you may want to read a chapter or two ahead of the lecture, to get used to reading a math book as a primary source.
Good luck! Math is beautiful!
