fsuts··on Nitter and XCancel receive cease and desist notices
Did anyone see the recent X api price changes? A post with a url costs much more than a post without.

They actively penalise anyone leaving the walled garden and also the algorithm punishes such posts

fsuts··on US removes Syria from terrorism sponsor list, lifting major investment obstacle
Hopefully the Syrian state officials are not corrupt and sign the best deals for the country, rather than siphoning off bribes for themselves and selling Syria to foreign companies who extract egregious profits.
fsuts··on The service XCancel is stopped until further notice
Then it may be better to put quotes around it so it looks like a quote. As copying it in plain text makes it look like your post
fsuts··on Disrupting a new covert influence campaign from Russia
Open Ai is fighting for defence and other state contracts in USA and similar minded countries

Writing about Russia negatively is in their interests, in reality all nation states are doing the same stuff

“We banned a cluster of ChatGPT accounts that very likely originated in Russia. The operators prompted in Russian to generate social media comments that were posted on Substack, Telegram, X, Facebook and LinkedIn. Most of the comments they generated were in English, and the operators instructed ChatGPT to hide any linguistic clues that they were Russian. ”

They replaced them the next day with English speakers and carried on as normal
fsuts··on Ask HN: Why do you use Ubuntu?
Businesses are roughly split into only two camps Ubuntu or redhat as they have established business support. So lots of software and drivers and hardware will be tested against Ubuntu, as it’s free

Ubuntu is also seen as the user friendly first entry into Linux and people who use a Debian based distribution are likely to stay with Debian derivatives rather than re-learn things on the red hat stream.

Seeing how low Linux desktop market share is, I don’t think it matters to the Linux community which is used, more important that market share increases

fsuts··on Chinese robot Tiangong clocks sub-9 second 100 metres
They are terrible at the sport of weightlifting though

fsuts··on New Mac Studio with M5 Max and M5 Ultra
Yes
fsuts··on Starbase, LA
How are SpaceX paying for it? it’s costing $100bn… but they don’t have $100bn…
fsuts··on uBlock Origin Is Giving Up the Fight to Keep Ads Off Facebook
Facebook and instagram constantly email me trying to entice me to use the app. As I haven’t used it for years.

I think it’s purely to massage their Active Monthly User numbers to show growth.

fsuts··on Controversial creators are benefiting from monetization programs run by Meta
Take a juicy corruption story to the media and watch them refuse to engage. All of them.

There are things they are allowed to talk about, and things they are not.

It’s been refined over many decades to maintain public ignorance

That Epstein or Enron type scandal you see in the media is tip of iceberg of what is not published.

fsuts··on Controversial creators are benefiting from monetization programs run by Meta
But regulated media is also a shit show!
fsuts··on Dropbox is an obvious PE Target?
They would need to borrow a lot of money to buy it, as article suggests $8bn valuation.

Bending raised $1bn in IPO and spent all of it on Airtable recently

fsuts··on Dropbox is an obvious PE Target?
Keep the business alive? Article says it’s making good money so no risk of it dying
fsuts··on Launch HN: Keet (YC S24) – An app to create video courses on anything
I would add private option, even if paid as businesses may want to use for their internal training and not want public

Good luck with the venture

fsuts··on OpenAI’s head of ethics leaves less than a year after joining
Surprised she left as probably had stock options.

But she was Meta before so can’t be a question of her principles, so indicates a personal reason

fsuts··on Mark Zuckerberg attacks 'closed' AI rivals as Meta returns to open models
Meta were fined by Mexico a few days ago so the timing today of a Meta doing good exercise is probably not coincidental

https://www.latimes.com/business/story/2026-08-07/meta-order...

fsuts··on Tl;dv: Over 180k meetings left wide open
> He responded within minutes: "thank you! can you report it to our CTO and we will look at it immediately?"

Why could he not speak to HIS ceo himself instead of asking Bob to

fsuts··on I'll be stepping back from leading product for X
Elons escalating behaviour is very concerning
fsuts··on I'll be stepping back from leading product for X
> X is, and will remain, the most important communication technology in history.

No it’s not

fsuts··on Changes at Google DeepMind: Demis Hassabis from CEO to Chair, Jeff Dean departs
“Demis seemed like the inevitable successor to Sundar.”

Demis is a ai researcher. No indications of being a polyglot beyond that? Running alphabet means a focus on revenue growth and across more boring products.

fsuts··on Changes at Google DeepMind: Demis Hassabis from CEO to Chair, Jeff Dean departs
Agree, also see it as a admission that agi isn’t close
fsuts··on The Golden Age of British Ice Cream
I would say that the word stupid is a derogatory term.
fsuts··on The Golden Age of British Ice Cream
You are being idealistic and not basing your reasoning on science.

All people are not born with equally capable brains.

That’s just a fact.

People are not equal in their decision making.

fsuts··on Flowise is shutting down
>Over the last few months, we've noticed a significant shift in how people build. As AI models become more capable at reasoning, we've noticed that developers are increasingly relying on new coding agents such as Claude Code/OpenClaw to handle complex tasks. The typical rigid workflow low code approach quickly hits the limit when it comes to complexity.

Their front page says ‘design agents visually’ so their target market was less skilled devs/non devs.

So not sure why they are giving the reason if closer as cli related when low code and cli are different markets.

fsuts··on The Golden Age of British Ice Cream
I would urge you to refrain from using the word stupid.

All humans are not born equal, many are born with poor critical thinking which is not helped by regimented schooling and the isolated nuclear family pattern.

It’s for the strong to protect the weak, but instead modern consumer capitalism is built on the strong exploiting the weak.

fsuts··on The Golden Age of British Ice Cream
You perhaps missed where I said ‘taken in by marketing’.

Companies don’t spend multi millions on advertising for no reason, advertising works.

fsuts··on The Golden Age of British Ice Cream
For anyone not from Britain, majority of parents, taken in by advertising, feed kids highly processed ice cream sold at low prices, no different to most other countries.

Ingredients are terrible for all the brands mentioned. And British children have high obesity rates and dental issues.

The golden age was pre-big food when ice cream was made naturally.

The celebration of targeted product design, branding and advertising is something we should move away from. The companies don’t care about its customer’s health, just its profits.

fsuts··on Show HN: Run an 80B Qwen in 4.3 GB of RAM on a Mac, and a 35B on an iPhone
This is how progress happens, someone gets to 3t/s, the next person gets to6/s and eventually we get to 100t/s.

People like this person are laying the foundations.

fsuts··on How Hollywood stopped making movies in Hollywood
I saw a Trump clip not long after his inauguration where he said he was unhappy about Hollywood moving overseas due to tax cuts but so far nothing.

Like with manufacturing in China, allowing your competitor countries to build up expertise means at some point it become difficult to regain top place. And whilst bulk of the profits may flow back to the USA at present, may not always be the case.

It’s not like it’s been hidden, all USA needs to do is reduce the gap so financially there is no incentive to go abroad.

Great for other countries though.
