fsflover··on Fuck Android Developer Verification Program
> I have to use an Android phone(and I don't want fucking Apple either)

There are third alternatives, too (GNU/Linux phones).

Replacing the old boss with another one that's the same? You should go to an independent, paid email provider instead.
fsflover··on Apple has added persistent 'ads' to iOS, and it's driving users crazy
> I am not that sure my next phone will be an iPhone.

> The first time I used GNOME, it was a breeze.

So you may be interested in GNU-like Linux phones with UI based on Gnome.

> Sounds like an unauthorized access of my computer

This is exactly what Stallman and the FSF have been saying forever, but nobody believed them, https://www.gnu.org/proprietary/malware-apple.en.html

fsflover··on Apple has added persistent 'ads' to iOS, and it's driving users crazy
So you are starting to fight with your computer, just like users of Windows.

> Unfortunately this is an ideological hill that many Linux devs are willing to die on, so we're at an impasse.

This is no longer the reason, as FLOSS implementation exists now: https://arxiv.org/abs/2609.20909

> issues with audio during Zoom, Teams, and Google Meetings sessions

Could it be due to a poor support of Linux by these proprietary apps? Possibly even intentional.

fsflover··on Android 17 is the first since 3.x to add new APIs without releasing to the AOSP
Purism don't really control the firmware of their modem and WiFi: the vendors do. However, Librem 5 has replaceable modem and WiFi card allowing to choose a different vendor. They did it for WiFi. A new modem is also being discussed, too.
fsflover··on Android 17 is the first since 3.x to add new APIs without releasing to the AOSP
> They exist but they need more polish and support

Which is why we should support them today and not wait until the walled gardens become inescapable.

fsflover··on Android 17 is the first since 3.x to add new APIs without releasing to the AOSP
That is exactly what Purism is doing with their Librem 5 phone. Valve didn't offer great experience immediately, too.

Do you really hope to get a phone respecting your freedoms from a megacorp? This is incredibly naive in 2026.

This can be achieved if more people support the effort. If you expect megacorps to offer you a device respecting your freedom, think again.

If you mean GNU/Linux phones, they already exist and can be used as daily drivers by technical people. Sent from my Librem 5.
