As a business programmer, I don't want to think about whether something is stack or heap allocated. I just want explicit clones, immutability by default, the ecoysystem, the toolchain and dang I want sum types.
Urban planning is garbage. The likelihood of being able to walk or commute by something besides cars is close to zero.
Healthcare, guns, politics... Why would I pick this over anything in Europe?
Stuff like this will happen more often in the future. It's downhill all the time.
I have a different algorithm:
- Find first indented line
- Find next unindented line
If that does not work for you, your code is bad.
What is a "wrong data structure"? Is it wrong to do linear scans when hash access would be sufficient?
> ... using the wrong levels of abstractions
When is the abstraction level wrong? I can name you at least 10 projects that avoid so called anti-patterns by introducing unecessary abstractions. Is something really an anti-pattern if it's "solution" massively reduces your development velocity but now everything is nicely composable?
In my opinion, anti-patterns are either obvious (constantly using different names for the same thing) or totally subjective to the context (when to repeat yourself).
But maybe I'm not able to put myself into the shoes of novices and a lot of things seem obvious to me. Granted.
Recently, they decided to move you to an absolute blank screen after login. Nothing is happening. You have to activate "desktop mode" before the page loads. Or you have to open a subreddit directly and click on the "Home" button afterwards. It's a joke.
The chat is a nightmare as well. Now you have the legacy and the new chat tabs. As a user, there is no notable difference between those two. I was able to pop out the chat in previous versions into an own window. They removed the button to do that, but it still appears sometimes.
> That's non-sense. Germany built more wind and solar capacity per capita the past 20 years than any other country in the world.
How is "but we built more than others" an argument against "CDU/CSU actively worked against renewable energies by implementing 10H"?
Docs need some polishing tough. The comparison to other languages doesn't make the point of Ki clear to me.
Also, error handling feels like black-box magic with all those exclamation and question marks sprinkled everywhere. Those symbols seem vaguely chosen.
What do you want to do now? I thought setting up projects for beginners is too complicated. Now you expect them to bootstrap production environments. Which one is it?
> I all this complication to show some clicky things on a web browser while inputting some data?
You sound like a person who has no clue about frontend development. I know, because I used to speak the same way before going full-stack. It's not bad to not understand things, but I think it's bad to not understand things and have loud opinions about it.
If you seriously see no reason in using frontend technologies, you are free to pick whatever you like best. But then you act like you are smarter than a whole industry - which I doubt.
> just download some other dudes code
How is that different from using a library?
> package/import stuff is light years better than any TS or ES script
So your critizing the TS module system? I don't know. I don't have issues with that.
It's really hard to follow you as you are constantly topic-hopping. Would really help if you named some examples of why TS is so bad.
I can only tell you from my experience that having one language for frontend and backend reduces the amount of context switches as a dev and leads to a faster feedback cycle. Eventually, adding business value becomes easier and that is what it's all about. Not some weird culture wars about languages.
Don't know how beginners would feel about writing gradle tasks though. Don't know if they can cross-compile Java to the browser as well.
You might just write it in an object-oriented way... but OOP sucks.
> Have any of these people watched a beginner and not-so beginner try to pick up "modern JavaScript" or TypeScript?
What are you talking about?
My point is that you produced dozens of paragraphs about terminology but added zero value to the actual discussion and all that while totally understanding what others actually meant.
Now you can walk around telling every grandma that they should not refer to it as OS, but you will unlikely succeed in that mission. Accept it...
... or whatever your OS application search is
