frnz··on Before pixels: Modular industrial dashboards
Very impressive. I also like this LECTRON-system by Gregor Greger from 1965. BRAUN bought the rights and then Dieter Rahms worked on the design in 1967. Produced until 2022 (!)

You can still find some stuff on ebay with "baukasten braun lectron"

edit, Link to Wikipedia: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lectron

This is so true, it really struck me, thanks. For me, this is the most important post of the week. By far.
frnz··on Inverse Kinematics and Foot Locking
I imagine, that unsolved foot sliding is considered as a genuine part of the genre, but personally I really enjoy fixed feet in gameplay very much.

"The physical modeling is promising but extremely compute intensive. " This is not true, at least for the makers of pianoteq. Their simulation runs fine on a raspberry 5 with 1 gb.

frnz··on There is no AI
of course not directly, especially with names like gpt123. But broad consumer perception is a totally different kind of thing and there I see a lot of artificial-mind pre-god perceptions. At least the term intelligence, historically human- or creature-bound, will not come off into self-abstraction as mere product too easily.

Audio normalizing seems to be quite hard for this kind of use. I tried this 20 yrs ago with parts of a (mouse-)pointer device, a rigid nylon strap around the chest and 8 cm of flexible length in between. Mouse pointer wheel (one dimension only) was driven by change of length. For some hours of fiddling it was quite reliable.
