Access could easily become a victim of its own success if the dataset got too large. I made some money off of a couple projects where that happened. I had to convert them to sqlserver to both handle the data load and for true multiuser.
I am not a fan of "The Cloud" for ongoing production. I understand the case for it but I never liked the risk of someone else, with a different agenda and incentives than me, running my critical infrastructure. The Cloud does alleviate some risks with hosting your own servers, but it introduces new risks. This reminds me of a slogan I saw many years ago: There is no cloud, it's just somebody else's computer. That somebody else can complete shut you down when their interests no longer align with your own. No thank you.
Well said. His intentions were good but the problems he faced were very difficult and his solutions were poor. I think that he made a mediocre president at best but an awesome former president.
Couldn’t care less. When they have a robot that will clean my house, do my dishes and laundry, mow my lawn and remove snow, call me. I would spend thousands for a robot like that.
He couldn’t have financed the tractor himself, as people under 18 cannot legally sign a binding contract. I can’t see the bank or finance company letting that slide.
It has been really inaccurate for me the past 6 months. I’ve gotten wet a couple of times when I trusted it. It was great, but Apple has killed it. R.I.P Dark Sky.
I can’t believe at 12 people would actually be stressing the system. Could you meet the requirements of the project by setting up the second machine as a hot back up at an offsite location?
When goats eat weeds will they eat and destroy the whole weed? Or do they eat just down to the surface level of the ground which will let the weed grow back immediately?
I want to see an Amdahl emulator running on a Hitachi emulator running on a Fujitsu emulator running on a zos emulator that runs Linux and reads punch cards. Fire up the DASD!
It would be interesting to see this for auto component companies. For example AC Delco used to be owned by GM, then was spun off as part of Delphi, which changed its name to Aptiv.
I feel the same way about vinyl aficionados. CDs were a godsend. Why would anyone want to go back to scratchy hissy delicate media? No, it doesn't sound better.
I have Google Fi as my phone service, so I can make and receive calls from my PC. I use OBS to record my important calls with big companies. I always smirk when I hear "this call may be recorded". You bet your ass it's being recorded. The recordings have saved me money and aggravation more than once.
Epic has been eating Cerner’s lunch for years, mainly because Cerner has seemed to lose momentum since before Neal Patterson died. I think that competition in the EHR market is important, hopefully this buy will reinvigorate Cerner.
I like the option. If I want the formatting stripped I paste the text into notepad++, then copy that text. Otherwise I get all the formatting and don't need to reapply it.
There should be a section devoted to JCL (Job Control Language). It is arcane and difficult but is the secret sauce that makes IBM COBOL so powerful on mainframes. I looked at the courses briefly and didn't see it mentioned.
