I didn't know cloudacademy, cool.

We have livestreamed classes with industry pros. Among them, that I mentioned on the parent comment. There's a lot of real-time collaboration among students, like shared notes, questions and files.

But really, the live classes, those are our best feature.

Awesome! I remember you too. Well, this is why we've been so busy.

We had to resync the videos, but Monday afternoon, they'll be ready at https://courses.platzi.com/classes/rethinkdb-databases/

We started in Latinamerica and we do a subscription model. $29/month for access to everything. We have more complete courses, 2 weeks long, about design, marketing and programming. We're right now planning the first english course.

Which one would you like?

freddier··on Online Learning Platzi (YC W15) Gives You Useful Tech Skills, Not Diplomas
In the tech industry (design, marketing, programming) we're seeing that companies don't care about credentials when they see an awesome portfolio. Google VP of People Ops said they no longer care about GPAs [1]

On the other hand, one of our students from Spain managed to convince his university to validate one of our courses as credits. So I don't know. But the trend is towards projects > diplomas.

(However, for papers, that's gonna take a while)

Hey guys, I'm one of the founders of Platzi. We've done classes with RethinkDB, YC partners, Sails.js/Treeline and Product Hunt. They're all free right now and will be for a while.

I'm happy to answer any questions.

freddier··on Live Sails.js Course
The livestreaming of the class is over now. But we'll upload the recordings ASAP to: https://courses.platzi.com/classes/develop-apps-sails-js/

All your feedback will be welcome, thanks!

freddier··on Live Sails.js Course
We're almost there.

What would you like? RethinkDB from scratch or something more specific/advanced?

freddier··on Live Sails.js Course
AAAAAAAaaoook, yeah, we can fix that. It seems we have more weird issues in our FAQ besides that. Thank you wyclif, we'll fix it asap.

It's free. It is free. We have a subscription plan for long courses on big topics, but haven't launched that yet. This class is free and it'll be free forever. The recorded version too.
freddier··on Live Sails.js Course
We had a live class with Sam Altman two weeks ago. And Gitlab and Sails.js this week. We're almost there for classes with Docker, RethinkDB and Stripe.

And then, we hope to do a full course on either React.js and JS app dev or Social Media Marketing and Community Management. Still debating that. What do you guys think?

freddier··on Live Sails.js Course
It's truly free. Is that weird?

Hi, I'm one of the founders of Platzi. We're really excited to have Sam teaching a class on our platform. It's really different to learn with live classes instead of just videos.

We've been doing this in spanish for a couple of years and this is first english class. Please let us know if you have questions / suggestions or a terrible bug we missed.

Shouldn't the placeholder text use the standard "placeholder" attribute of HTML5 instead of the "place" I'm seeing in the examples?

You're right about Craigslist and maybe Zappos, but Facebook won, among other things, for being the first truly usable, non-hideous social network. And they keep creating new UX elements.

Amazon has so many remarkable UI inventions that they patented some (not that I agree with that).

eBay has pioneered a lot of UI innovation as well.

Usability and UX invention is in the core of this 3 companies.

I tried, I honestly tried. The result was they have really uncomfortable chairs and the bandwidth is really bad. The silence and concentration is good but I have a headset anyway.

The chairs are not really a deal breaker, but the bandwidth totally is.

They're not always used to kill people. There are many uses for that kind of massive power and its multiple effects.

They're a tool. The "mass murder" thing is a human decision.

freddier··on Project Bubble: possible basecamp alternative? Please review.
The video shouldn't be on a lightbox. Never. OK, don't put it as SWF player from the beginning, but once I click that play button, I expect to see the video playing RIGHT THERE where it is, ASAP. I would never imagine to see a sudden lightbox appears in the middle of the page after a click.

I don't see the point in that UX decision, I'd really like to know why.

freddier··on The Gloves Are Officially Off: Google Vs. Apple
Have you actually tried Flash Player 10.1 on an Android phone? I have, today, on Google I/O. It works very well and it's not how you say at all. There are lots of videos showing it as well.

Please, try before you judge.
