forwardslash··on It's time for us in the tech world to speak out about cryptocurrency
You said

> Nothing about blockchains, DLTs, crypto, at its core is a scam to me

Which I took as an implication that you didn’t see Tether as a deeply troubling or a scam

forwardslash··on It's time for us in the tech world to speak out about cryptocurrency
How have you done a deep dive on Tether and not seen it as deeply troubling?
forwardslash··on Introducing Neocities Site Tipping
The most interesting part to me is that you can enable and track paypal donations between third-parties with just the e-mail. I thought you needed to go through their APIs.
forwardslash··on Kierkegaard’s Rebellion
I love Kierkegaard and I agree that it can be really hard to figure out what he is trying to say. I wouldn't have gotten nearly as much from his writing if it wasn't for supplementary material.
forwardslash··on Show HN: Til-cli – a command line tool to simplify managing a repo of TILs
You're right, TIL is "today I learned". I was inspired by a previous HN post where someone made a repo of short memos about things they had learned https://github.com/jbranchaud/til
forwardslash··on Vancouver’s high-tech hurdle: Attracting top-level talent
Roham Gharegozlou of Axiom Zen, perhaps.
forwardslash··on Remove Ex-Mode from Neovim
How do you call the most recently defined macro? I just have Q bound to @q, but if I could make it more general that would be awesome.
forwardslash··on Facebook Flux – Application Architecture for Building User Interfaces
Could you describe what you mean by interdependent actions? As in, chains of actions?
forwardslash··on Show HN: Hacker News Redesign
Cool design, the y-meter reminds me a lot of the hubwheel we have at hubski[1]. In that vein you could remove the up arrow on the left side of the feed and differentiate on the y-meter itself whether or not you've clicked it.

forwardslash··on Microsoft reports record first-quarter revenue of $18.53 billion
What do you mean by 'avoid Bing'?
forwardslash··on A New Online Commmunity: Hubski
If you just want to explore some of the content without following any users or tags you can use the links in the nav bar, in particular the badges[1], tags[2], and community[3] links. You can also use the different hubwheels to see all of the posts with the same number of shares (the dots on the hubwheel, ranging from 0 to 8).

forwardslash··on A New Online Commmunity: Hubski
Hubski is based off of news.arc and the arc server doesn't make clean URLs easy, at least not that I've seen yet.
forwardslash··on Hacker News is depressing
We have following and blocking of users and domains over at hubski (originally an hn clone) and it works pretty well. In particular being able to completely block someone from your feed and/or prevent them from commenting on your posts.
forwardslash··on Pirates playing a game dev simulator complain about piracy
You can add a torrent to the client without seeding it; I tested this myself [1]. I could see the author preparing the torrents ahead of time before uploading the torrent files and starting to seed them. At that point the client would still indicate when he added the torrent.

forwardslash··on Wikipedia’s Sexism
From the talk page[1] it looks like it wasn't random anonymous strangers but an established editor who's taken offence to her having, "the gall to complain about her articles"

forwardslash··on Flat UI colors
Was the "Why?" link not there when you went to the site?
forwardslash··on Reddit apologises for Boston "Witch Hunt"
Reddit has a history of apologizing for witch hunts. What's going to stop this from happening again? Nothing. They just hope that, "Boston will also be where reddit learns to be sensitive of its own power." I'm sure that will solve itself.
forwardslash··on When Game Development Stinks
Might I ask, what's your next planned game/genre?
forwardslash··on Flat-UI repository is available again
Did you miss the part where they didn't? Here is a comparison of Layer Vault, Flat UI, and The Noun Project which preceded LV and Flat UI: http://imgur.com/IH1osAD

forwardslash··on HTML5 Game Dev Competition for Students - sponsored by Mozilla, GitHub
As a current student and a hopeful contestant I think that what you guys have done with this competition is pretty cool. It has me interested in seeing what I can do with HTML5 besides just, "Novel thing done completely in HTML5"
forwardslash··on What the smartest people do on the weekend, everyone else will do in 10 years
I think there's mostly a lot of knee-jerk contrarianism, especially in the HN community. You can see the worst of that here: http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=3466925 and http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=3469453.

forwardslash··on Great work Visa, now I hate you
Actually, Tim Hortons just recently started accepting Visa (at least out here in BC).
forwardslash··on Tarsnap now available to residents of Canada
I just heard about tarsnap via this post and I love the idea of picodollars; count me in.
forwardslash··on Postmortem of a commercial failure: My first Android Game App
I'd like to know as well, but from what I've seen just watching the top apps is that the people who make the most money have in-app purchases. Part of it probably also has to do with marketing, I don't know if the author of this article did a lot of advertising or promotion, but it is important.
forwardslash··on Don’t Be Evil: How Google Screwed a Startup
Unfortunately not much money is at issue for them, so it's easy to write off.
forwardslash··on Don’t Be Evil: How Google Screwed a Startup
I had this exact same thing happen. I wanted to try out some advertising so I put up in $20 and an ad for some shitty clickbank book. Of course it went nowhere so I deleted the whole campaign and left it at that. I went back to check out adwords a year later and my account was banned. I tried to appeal but they just told me that the anyone who ever had those urls as ads were banned and there was nothing they were going to do about it. Now that I'm going to get into Android development I'm think I'm going to try what you did, different address, VPN, etc. I'm moving in the summer so it won't be so hard.
forwardslash··on Y Combinator's First Web Site
Thanks! I would've missed the little easter egg in there if not for you:

forwardslash··on Teach Yourself Programming in Ten Years by Peter Norvig (2001)
Slightly off-topic, but an interesting example testing out the idea of it taking 10,000 hours to become an expert is http://thedanplan.com/. Dan is trying to become a professional golfer and as of this month he's about 2,300 hours in.
