Nice!
Oh, and did Barack Obama really call you?
Edit to add: this really hasn't changed all that much in the past 100 years. Our house is over 100 years old, and is built very similarly to a modern stick framed house, with the exception of not having insulation (when built), and with the sheathing being planks instead of plywood. Also, the lath&plaster interior walls were a lot more involved in making than modern drywall finishing.
What do you mean by this?
If you're not having interesting conversation directly related to your work during 1:1s, it's likely that things are going well for you, or you have a bad manager.
Assuming you don't have a bad manager, then they would be discussing things that aren't going well with you. So if that's not the case, then you're doing fine. Use the 1:1 as a chance to talk about your backgrounds, interesting things you've noticed at work, eventual improvements you would back, possible cost savings opportunities, etc.
Just handwaving "but pumps!" really undermines how much effort this takes for women.
I have to say: besides a few clunky swipe experiences, the iPhone is better in every single way. The camera opens when I click the camera button. The phone pairs wonderfully with my airpods. With Android, the camera would inevitably lag after pressing the button, sometimes taking 10+ seconds to load, and making me miss a photo.
I don't miss Androids/.
I'm happy we have an available secure chat for people that need/want it, but I'm more than happy to keep it relegated to niche uses until it gets more user friendly.
The extent of your usage of an iPhone is rarely mandated, and most people I know use the iPhone primarily for photos, iMessage, a browser (usually Chrome? At least in my circle) and an email account.
For those functions, Apple is hardly slamming you with recommended content and ads. Instead, you pay an initial premium for a solid bit of hardware. And if you want more, say if you want to store a lot of photos on their servers ($), you pay for it with more money.
Everyday we had one to start the day, and people never talked about their blockers. Some folks would give a super brief overview of what they did and will do. This was fine, but not really interesting to have 5 days a week. But then other folks would give a play-by-play of what they did and how, and what they will do next and how they will do it.
It's like sounding busy was more important than the rest of team's time and sanity.
Personally, I think it's more helpful to just have a daily team 30 minutes scheduled to discuss any important topics, vs specifically to have a status updates. The actual standup function where people prefer updates can happen >= 1 day a week && < 5 days a week
Facebook is the new MySpace, and Instagram is not attracting the newer generations. The metaverse is a wild moonshot to invent a completely new market and platform that Meta alone would control and of sufficient size to replace the inevitable decline of Facebook/Instagram ad revenue.
Personally, I don't believe people want the metaverse, and if it succeeds, it'll come at the cost of coercion via marketing overload.
FWIW, I think you used a comma instead of a period in your snipe. Would read better as:
>Use proper capitalization or people won't believe "amazon manager here". Well... maybe they will.
Or even:
>Use proper capitalization or people won't believe "amazon manager here"... Well, maybe they will.
