forgotmypwd123··on So Where’s My Low Voltage DC Wall Socket?
I always thought running low-voltage DC through a house from a single supply was doomed due to voltage drop over the distances required....
forgotmypwd123··on Game Critic Uses Workaround for YouTube's Copyright System (2016)
Yes, that's the exact same trick as Jim Sterling's "Copyright Deadlock".
forgotmypwd123··on User Agent Changes
Web pages should not work around browser bugs, its like a linux distro working around kernel bugs. Just fucking fix it.
forgotmypwd123··on How to Leave the United Kingdom
Auto-play video warning.
forgotmypwd123··on Astronomers on the verge of detecting “first light”
But it's coming from everywhere, and the universe is infinite, so if you look at a distant enough point, you'll find some light from [AGE OF THE UNIVERSE] light-years away. This is probably a horrendous misunderstanding.
forgotmypwd123··on Say it's 1962, you're lucky enough to be a programmer working with an IBM 7090

forgotmypwd123··on Astronomers on the verge of detecting “first light”
But wouldn't the hot dense stuff before reionisation have emitted light?

forgotmypwd123··on Ask HN: What are your arguments in favor of end-to-end encryption?
> (see TSA locks and basically any time in history that was tried).

For anyone unaware, the TSA lock master key was leaked by including a photo of an actual master key in a newspaper article about said locks. I don't think encryption keys shared with police/govt. will be any safer.

Wasn't monica fired for suggesting she used gender neutral pronouns generally? Because they said she should use the preferred gender specific pronoun when known?

You've obviously never tried to use a 2008 netbook for anything productive...

forgotmypwd123··on Stop Infinite Scrolling
There's a lot of reasons why it would break all of those things. Hacking it so that the URL & history is rewritten when content is loaded is significant extra work.

I have no idea what you mean by indexing, given the word index doesn't feature in the article. You also ignore the problems of making the scrollbar useless & the footer unreachable. I don't see any fix for those issues at all.

forgotmypwd123··on CDC says stop vaping as mystery lung condition spreads
Worried about the possible dangers of certain flavors, I tried "flavorless" e-liquid (6mg) and it tastes TERRIBLE.

Its not flavorless, its unflavored, and the nicotine (and possibly also the VG/PG) tastes like pre-chewed nicotine gum.
