forgetcolor··on We Need a Warby Parker for Mattresses
13 cents PLUS room, board, power, water, garbage, etc
forgetcolor··on How do you completely de-personalize Google results? - Gabriel Weinberg's Blog
reminds me of this artwork, personal depersonalization system, http://bengrosser.com/projects/personal-depersonalization-sy... . he wrote code to clutter his google history with junk by continuously searching for dictionary words, changing location, etc.
forgetcolor··on Show HN: Collections, a fast multiple-account Google Docs client for Mac
ignore if you're still using snow leopard. requires 10.7. (boo)
forgetcolor··on Anandtech: Macbook Pro with Retina Display Review
i'm so tempted by the weight and the screen resolution, but thrown off by the glossy display and the sluggish frame rates at > 1440 resolutions. i tried a glossy in 2010 and returned it for a highres antiglare because the reflections created a serious eyestrain problem for me. i doubt the new one will be much better, but look forward to seeing one. and i wish he'd try the framerate tests on mountain lion.

i really need the performance increase over my 2010 but may go w the old style until they work out the bugs in a year.

forgetcolor··on Microsoft Introduces New "Surface" Tablet
i can't believe they've got the windows logo on the front bezel. super ugly and distracting. even apple, who loves its logo as much as any corporation, kept the front of the ipad logo-free.
forgetcolor··on Engadget Retina Macbook Pro Review
the review says almost nothing about apple's claim that they've reduced glare by 75%. considering there's no matte option, this is a crucial point i need answered before considering one. otherwise i may need to go with the old heavier model (w/ matte screen of course).
forgetcolor··on MacBook Pro gets Retina Display; MacBook Air updated with Ivy Bridge
that's kind of like saying i did something to my turds to make them less smelly. may be true, but i still don't want to hang out with one.
forgetcolor··on Ask HN: Somebody is trying to profit off of something that I released for free
just email fb, tell them this guy is infringing your copyright, point them to its real home on the web and ask them to take it down. i runinto this w/ ebay and youtube and that approach always works for me. they may even have an official form or email for these complaints.
forgetcolor··on Ask HN: Best way to recover and deal with carpal tunnel?
i deal with both carpal tunnel (diagnosed) and tendonitis. an ergonomic keyboard is a must (i use a kinesis freestyle). one of the most important equipment changes for me is to never use an actual mouse, and to never click a trackpad. instead i use a magic trackpad on my desktop mac, built in trackpad on my mbp, and a logitech trackpad on my pc desktops. all are configured with full gesture capability so i can use the tap features instead of clicking. also, no click-drag. instead i use the double tap to lock feature.

i also mix it up by using my ipad. for browsing, for short emails, etc. the ipad requires different muscles so changes the patterns of use (a good thing).

for exercises, i highly recommend this short youtube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUyMNyrOHJQ. i think this was perhaps the best thing for me. it got me out of the worst of it, and keeps me from slipping back to my worst.

i wear wrist splints in bed. this might not be for everyone, but my doc suggested it. a lot of people bend their wrists at night, stressing the muscles and tendons. i was definitely one who did. it helps.

finally, ice. i use ice packs to cool off the arms when i'm hurting. walgreens sells a nice inexpensive pack with a built in cover that works really well. i have 10 of them :)

best of luck.

forgetcolor··on Is there a point to paginating articles online?
google encourages pagination with their 3 ads/page limit. seems like the limit should be based on quantity of content, not a per page metric.
forgetcolor··on Something is deeply broken in OS X memory management
i don't understand why anyone who cares about performance doesn't at least max out the RAM, let alone use an SSD as their boot disk. sure, the SSD is expensive, but the RAM? dirt cheap. i only wish the MBP could take more.
forgetcolor··on Sqrt(x*x+y*y)+3*cos(sqrt(x*x+y*y))+5 from -20 to 20
doesn't work on my ipad, WA does.
forgetcolor··on Any way to see the highest ranking a story achieved on hacker news?
they don't appear to, but thanks for the suggestion. i also checked hckrnews, but no luck.
forgetcolor··on Connecticut Killed Affiliate Marketing with Amazon.com
IL also mandated a boycott of Amazon for any state procurement. IOW no state employee can buy goods from Amazon using state purchasing methods (refardless of aource of funds). Of course it's not like any sales taxes were paid by tne state since they're exempt.
