Eat up Martha.
foodstances··on That'll do, pig, that'll do
Because then it's basically just another todo-list app that shares lists between parents and children. That's neat, but hardly the kind of thing that needs a whole company behind it with lots of funding.
foodstances··on India orders ‘panic button’ for mobile phones in bid to protect women
Maybe... it is the same country that is having trouble convincing its citizens to stop shitting in the streets and use the toilets they're provided.

foodstances··on Ask HN: Why doesn't Facebook display the weather?
Because they don't want you thinking about leaving your computer to go outside. Just like how casinos have no clocks on the walls.
foodstances··on Free VPN integrated in Opera for better online privacy
Just buy a Visa or Amex gift card with cash. It's a normal credit card number you can use online and some of them can be reloaded. Sometimes not reloading is best, so your subscriptions won't auto-renew and you can cut your paper trail by opening a new account with a new credit (gift) card.

foodstances··on Mutt 1.6
Most MUAs these days send multipart/alternative messages, so even though most recipients see the fancy HTML version, the message also has a text/plain version that mutt will default to showing and you won't even notice it had an HTML part.

For those rare HTML-only mails, just install lynx and add this to ~/.mailcap:

     text/html; lynx -dump -localhost -force_html -width 80 %s; copiousoutput
This will make mutt pipe the html content to lynx, which will render it and spit back a plaintext version with all the embedded links at the bottom. You'll be able to easily scroll through the message in mutt as though it were plaintext.
foodstances··on Reddit removed NSL canary from 2015 Transparency Report
Uh, that's exactly how canaries work, that's not a workaround.

I think the same thing was said about Javascript when node.js was created.

Make a webpage that automatically starts playing an audio clip of someone saying those things, trick people into visiting the page and hope their laptop isn't muted.

Only on desktop, on mobile it must be showing an MP4 file since it works on the iPhone.
foodstances··on Apple Shuts Off App Reviews for Those Running iOS 9 Beta
I don't think that's true anyway. I just saw an update from Dropbox yesterday that had the update text "Fixes most common crashes for users running the iOS 9 Beta".

You mean like how Google doesn't support MicroSD expansion in their Nexus devices so you have to store all of your media in the cloud, probably with Google's services?
foodstances··on OpenBSD 5.7 Released
Depends what specs you want, but a ThinkPad X240 would be well supported.

foodstances··on Show HN: PSequel – a free PostgreSQL GUI Tool for Mac OS X
You do realize that Apple doesn't review code, right? An application in the App Store can issue malicious or accidental "DROP TABLE" statements just as easily as an application you downloaded from GitHub. Apple only reviews apps (in binary format) to make sure they mostly do what they say they do, and that they don't violate Apple's distribution guidelines (porn, trademarks, etc.)
foodstances··on No Need for RVM or Rbenv on OpenBSD
This post hints at it, but you can install all of those Ruby versions on OpenBSD simultaneously. Ruby 1.8 has its binaries named "ruby18", "irb18", etc. and Ruby 1.9 is "ruby19", "irb19", etc. You can create a symlinks from "ruby" to "ruby19" and "irb" to "irb19" to set a system-wide default but any version can be used.

foodstances··on New NSA Leak Shows MITM Attacks Against Major Internet Services
Certificate Patrol is kind of useless for all Google properties, since they constantly swap out certificates on most of their domains every few days. Ironically, these are probably the most important sites you need to be worried about MITMs with, but you'll constantly be ignoring them with Certificate Patrol.
