flowinho··on Ask HN: With trust in Firefox gone, is Chrome-ish the only option?
OP here. I never intended to "rage bait" or something. With "Chrome-ish" i ment Chromium-based browsers. That's what i ment by "it feels like basically everything is Chrome nowadays". My question was: Taking FF out of the equation, which browsers except Chromium-Based ones are out there?
flowinho··on Ask HN: How do you synchronise your notes?
Pretty cool but do you store any sensitive information in there? Do you trust Microsoft?

I used Joplin a few years ago but at some point I couldn’t restore synced notes and had some data-loss. This experience still makes me shy away from using it again…. Has it gotten better?

Yo I totally thought about using just files in a git repo myself. However I’m reluctant on trusting GitHub with my notes. Maybe is self-host a git repository and use that. Hmm thanks thoughts like these are exactly why I posted this.

Also looking into Möbius, which is an iOS implementation of syncthing.

Gotta step in as a GrapheneOS User. You have multiple options.

The easiest and most approachable one is: install Aurora Store from F-Droid. It gives you access to Google Play + App Updates without logging you into Google. This almost feels identical to Google Play itself.

Next: think about install the Experimental GMS Support that GrapheneOS offers. If you e.g. absolutely need an App that has troubles working without Google SDKs embedded, this might be an option. This is documented in the Usage Guide of the Website.

However, just dont forget that you wanted a Google-FREE Phone. So dont overdo installing proprietär stuff.

Oh and stay as far away from MicroG as possible, it seriouly cripples the security of GrapheneOS by a lot.
