I've been getting crickets since I started applying, this explains why.
> Get a referral/introduction from a current employee. Look through their roster, find a blog post that resonates with you, and reach out to the author and ask what it's like to work there. =)
Will try this approach.
> Recruiters are also an asset during job search. Treat recruiters like your agent - you're the talent, and recruiters are helping you broker a deal.
Any recommendations for good recruiters or how I can go about finding one?
Thank you so much for your advice and insights.
That's interesting to hear. Startups can justify that price tag if there's some monetary return.
Through 90% of the post, I assumed that Godaddy unfairly canceled your domain. That doesn't seem to be the case. Granted, their termination notice timeframe is atrocious and that's the core issue.
Please fix the post so it doesn't misrepresent the actors in the situation.
I'm a bootstrapping founder, have a question about your amazing blog. Love the scrolling table of contents on the left and title/cta that appear on the top as you scroll. Do you mind sharing what cms/theme you use for your blog?
Unless I missed it completely, a suggestion I have for your blog is to have a search feature.
That said, genuinely inspired by your story and grateful for your transparency on how you made it happen. All the best!
Sketchappsources looks promising.
> A better option is to purchase something off of https://themeforest.net/category/site-templates
I found templates on themeforest fall short on the aesthetics that you find in SaaS websites like linktree.com that I alluded to in my post description. Please correct me I have the wrong impression of themeforest.
> As you spend more time optimizing your product you'll see design patterns being used by your competitors and learn along the way.
This is where I'm at. I'm able to build a front-end but competitors products look way good and I want to bridge the aesthetic gap.
I feel the same way about templates as they constrain design freedom. I lean more toward CSS/JS frameworks.
> Pick any existing CSS framework sucha tailwind CSS
I've noticed tailwind gets a lot of love on HN. Is Tailwind UI going to help make it easy to create a landing page with top notch aesthetics?
Not sure what impact this will have in the 6mo-1yr timeframe, but we can expect the relationship to deteriorate.
The recent issue of Foreign Affairs (a bellwether publication for the Washington consensus) is about this decline in the relationship between the two countries.
This is what I understood it to mean: a startup grows marketshare rapidly with VC money infusion in an easy money environment. But when credit dries up like it did in 2008, the startup could be left hanging as VCs might not fund the next round of their previously star startups as they want to deploy resources to their absolutely top-rung startups. So, even good startups can be left stranded.
That's the feeling I have. Would like to know if my thinking is on the right track.
1. Buy a tollfree phone number and list it your website. Some people like to talk to a support agent rather than email.
2. An official email makes the business appear legitimate. Have an email@companyname.com.
Don'ts:
1. I didn't have good experience with website chat widgets as I found them confusing to configure and that generated numerous low quality interactions.
2. Since the volume of emails is low initially, better to avoid email automation as that can take up a chunk of time to set up. Start with manual emails and once you know which email copy evokes a response, you can think about automating them.
