flomincucci··on 19-year-old hacker reveals how he rigged voting machines and election in Brazil
I actually work in a company that has a similar voting system. We print out a card, and we also burn the content of the vote in a rfid chip, that voters can check themselves. The rfid speeds up the counting, but you can always do the manual count to check up with the system. Neither the machine nor the card contain any information that can identify the person, so we can preserve the anonimity. Perhaps you can check out our site :) http://www.vot-ar.com.ar/en/system-votation/
flomincucci··on Ask HN: How you manage your to-do list? Are you happy with it?
I used workflowy for a long time and I think it's brilliant, but now I need to keep up with complex tasks, so I'm using tiddlywiki - that allows me to link between tasks, and make notes of relevant things to my tasks
flomincucci··on I analyzed the chords to 1300 popular songs for patterns. This is what I found.
I'm amused by the fact that this person doesn't seem to know that chords per se - and the analysis of them - is practically useless because they can and actually do vary from version to version of the same song. The thing that matters is how the chords are related (modes and progressions).
flomincucci··on The story of the hardest platform game ever
I loved the idea. Hope this guy makes it, because I wanna play that!
flomincucci··on The Death Of Point-and-Shoot Cameras
Tell this to my mom. She doesn't even know how to send or read SMS, but she still wants to take pictures at my birthday. I think we still have one or two generations that need the point-and-shoot
flomincucci··on The Strange Case of John Dillinger and the Fraudulent Apple ID
I thought it was an Apple mistake. At least five of the people I follow on Twitter received this John Dillinger mail, and there's a person in the comments saying he/she received the same mail. (And all these persons have nothing to do with each other)
flomincucci··on Ask HN: How can I convince my co-founders not to use a LAMP stack and should I?
>When I said plan for success I didn't mean PHP can't scale it was related to the lower argument that very few people under 25 uses PHP anymore.

I wonder where you get your statistics. The three most popular languages I know people under 25 uses (I'm under 25 myself) are .NET (well, not a language, but I mean mostly C#), Java and PHP. Maybe this has to do with the enviroments where this kids learn to code.

flomincucci··on Marco's eReader Roundup (Kindle 4, Kindle Touch, Nook Simple Touch, Kobo Touch)
I think this is the best article about ebook readers that I've read since... well, ever.
flomincucci··on Ask HN: What are you reading right now?
Currently reading Franny and Zooey by JD Salinger. Interesting concepts :)
flomincucci··on Jeff Atwood On Parenthood
Loved the names
flomincucci··on I quit my job last March and it was a bad idea.
I'd like to add: get a job, any job, and finish high school. It's always a good idea.
flomincucci··on WP-CLI: command-line interface for WordPress
Already watching in GitHub. And I love it.
flomincucci··on Enable Facebook Timeline

flomincucci··on Database of last words of Texas execution victims
I'm the only one amused by the fact that out of 475 exections there are only 2 women?
flomincucci··on I bought a webOS device and went to Taiwan. This is what I learned.
Someone lended me a tablet for a week. I didn't install a single application.... everything I needed was on the browser (Twitter / Facebook / Mail / Searching on Google)
flomincucci··on Why not to attend college
I find curious the fact that he thinks that Physics and Calculus "have anything to do with Computer Science". Prerequisites are there for a reason.
flomincucci··on Show HN: Cilantro ("About.me for restaurants"). Feedback wanted.
It would be nice to see a link to a sample site in the homepage (the screenshot works... but I want to see it in action). I got the idea, but I want to see how the site could look like without having to create one.
flomincucci··on A hacker's guide to college
Here in Argentina, the best colleges are the public ones. And they are free. I study at the National Technology University (UTN) (it's a public university that focuses on Engineering degrees), and we pay an optional fee of 20 pesos argentinos (about 5 dollars) per semester.

I believe college is about opening your mind and adquiring a framework for your life. "Learning to learn" is possibly the best description.

flomincucci··on "13+ years of programming experience"? For a theater company website?
*mistake

:D

flomincucci··on Leaky (YC S11) is Hipmunk for Car Insurance
I actually worked for a company making a product exactly like this, but for Argentina. They launched almost 6 months ago: http://www.123seguro.com.ar
flomincucci··on Is Gamification Bullshit?
duplicate: http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=2863835
flomincucci··on NYT Crossword editor: "I was willing to endure a life of poverty to do this."
and you didn't read the rules
flomincucci··on What happened to all the female developers?
I'm a female developer. I'm not going for CS, but a Systems Engineering degree. I share classes with lots of women (well, in the best of situations, we're 1/3 of the total population of a classroom). Even knowing lots of women going for a SE degree, I can count with one hand the female developers I know. Most of them aren't interested in developing, but in functional analysis and leading teams.
flomincucci··on The Pi Manifesto
I agree with teaching Tau first. Personally, it took me at least a week to begin to understand radians, and almost a month to understand it pretty well. Tau is more intuitive than Pi in this case.
flomincucci··on Ask HN: What natural languages do you learn?
I'm fluent in English, learning Esperanto (mother tongue: spanish). Took 3 years of Portuguese at high school. I'm learning sign language too (i'm not deaf), does that count as a natural language?
flomincucci··on College is a waste of time
+1 to that.

College is not to teach you "how to be successful" or "become a better coder". In this case, it's about giving you the tools to learn to think. (...I think this doesn't apply for med school, though)

flomincucci··on College is a waste of time
I agree with this. Here, I do PLENTY of group work. Business plans, software, use cases, etc.... EVERYTHING is made in group.
flomincucci··on Ask HN: What books are you reading
Just finished reading The Loser by Thomas Bernhard. Cruel, repetitive, ironic... effing brilliant. It's about three pianists - one of them it's Glenn Gould, and how meeting him ruined the life of the other two. Currently reading High Fidelity by Nick Hornby. I can't be objetive about him, I simple love it. (The movie is great, also)
flomincucci··on Bye Bye Skype, Top 3 Free Replacements
All of my friends and coworkers use Google Talk. I don't even have MSN! (and I barely use Skype, since my desktop computer doesn't have webcam nor microphone). In the end, I use the videochat feature on GMail, because it actually works pretty well.

I guess it all depends of the people around you.

flomincucci··on Ask HN: Can I help you be more awesome today? (No strings. Inquire within.)
Once, an employer hired me because he liked the fact that I play the piano. (100% true story)
