flexagoon··on StreetComplete on iOS is now in public beta
OpenStreetMap is a database, not a map application. The map on the official openstreetmap website is more of a demo to show some of the data. There are many different map apps that use OpenStreetMap data though.

> Just noticed, now that Tubular is no longer maintained

How have you just noticed that when Tubular reliably broke every single month when YouTube changes something and you had to wait for weeks for it to be fixed? It was barely maintained for a long time now

Morphe is the new app made by the old Revanced developers

How is blocking in-video apps stealing from creators? If the advertiser pays them per view, your view still counts. If they pay a commission per purchase, it doesn't matter if you skipped the ad if you wouldn't have bought the product anyway, and I doubt you buy every single advertised products to support creators.
flexagoon··on Show HN: Hamilton – a no-internet Android health dashboard, named after my dog
Ngl, at least for me, an AI-generated logo is immediately off-putting, even if the app itself is actually great. Just taking a similar icon from something like The Noun Project would probably be better if you can't make one yourself or ask someone for it. (I understand the logo is of your dog! It's the specific ugly AI-generated style I'm talking about, not the contents)

I'm also not really sure on how this app is better than the other similarly vibecoded Health Connect dashboards which are open source and cost nothing:

https://f-droid.org/en/packages/dev.easonhuang.heartwood/ https://f-droid.org/en/packages/tech.mmarca.openvitals/ https://f-droid.org/en/packages/com.monkopedia.healthdisconn...

Just the ones that come up when searching "health connect" on F-Droid, I'm sure there are more.

I hope this comment doesn't sound rude, sorry if it does

flexagoon··on F-Droid 2.0
Aside from payment apps, you can (and probably should) just use the web browser for most of those things
flexagoon··on F-Droid 2.0
F-Droid doesn't do any due dilligence on updates aside from blocking proprietary code

flexagoon··on ArXiv receives multiyear commitments to support it as an independent nonprofit
A blog post is just as "citable" as an arXiv preprint. There's no fundamental difference between them.
flexagoon··on AMD's random number generator can't generate a 0?
Are you a time traveler from the 5th century?
flexagoon··on AMD's random number generator can't generate a 0?
Why would that be any more concerning than the RNG producing any other number?
flexagoon··on ZuckOff is a free app that sees Meta glasses before they see you
It's not in the permission list, it's in the "data safety" section on Google Play
flexagoon··on ZuckOff is a free app that sees Meta glasses before they see you
Not sure why you'd use this sketchy vibecoded proprietary app over the same thing that's open source and existed for a while

flexagoon··on The Millennium Problems for Biology
Bacteria that break down plastic already exist, both naturally and synthetically. Optimizing those is one of the most popular student projects in my university. Hardly a millennium problem.
flexagoon··on Measure internet censorship
That's the point of open data. Anyone can use it, and that includes the NSA or any other state actor you don't like, but it also includes anyone else. I don't see what's wrong with running things like RIPE Atlas if the data is actually open and not just given to the NSA only for their purposes.
flexagoon··on Flet 1.0 – Build cross-platform apps in Python
Python is a fine language once you install a proper typechecker for it. Just like typescript makes JS a fine language.
flexagoon··on Xiaomi Mimo 2.6 live post-training dashboard
How does it compare with DS 4.1 Flash in your experience, if you ignore the cost?
flexagoon··on An update on Wayback Machine access
Doesn't have to be someone at your work, it could be a block on a whole ISP network or at least an IP subnetwork that is shared between many clients

You can try emailing the address mentioned in their post so they adjust their filters to match just the bot networks more precisely

flexagoon··on An update on Wayback Machine access
I assume that's because the IP range of your company network overlaps with a range used by some scrapers, and if it doesn't happen on your phone even in the corporate network, then IA probably checks some extra signals like the user agent in addition to the IP
flexagoon··on Show HN: Toast, a beautiful by default in terminal IDE

I don't know about emacs, but its definitely doable in neovim. I don't know if the built in file explorer suits your needs, but now that nvim has a proper built in plugin manager, it's just one line of config to install neo-tree or something like that.
flexagoon··on GrapheneOS' rewritten Messages app is released
I you look at the commits of the new Messages app it's mostly made by 2 people whose Github profiles show them as employees of GrapheneOS and who are mostly committing to different system apps. So I assume they have a separate team of devs whose job it is to make the system apps.

IIRC when they started first announced their replacement for the AOSP camera they said they hired a developer specifically for it.

flexagoon··on GrapheneOS' rewritten Messages app is released
You can go to the GOS App Store, choose the Messaging app, click 3 dots at the top and choose the Alpha release channel to get it now
