Reminders basically does have this: you can set a given item to alert when you are arriving/leaving from a specific location.
It's advice for people new to diet-and-exercise, not a law of the universe.
> it's a nice lie one can tell himself to continue eating junk and not feel guilty about it.
Exactly the opposite: it's saying that, in terms of weight loss, that eating the junk matters a lot more than going to the gym.
Hah I wish - hitting snooze would at least push it back.
We're just putting our heads under the pillow to try and ignore the blaring alarm.
Go on.
> Leia: They let us go. It was the only reason for the ease of our escape.
> Han: Easy? You call that easy?
> Leia: They're tracking us.
Do not pretend otherwise.
The Pulp Fiction context is a [imo, poor] defense of the name from the original team - saying that's where they picked it from, as opposed to the ableist slur. It was the mid-90s at the time, after all, and there was an Uma Thurman Pulp Fiction poster in half the dorm rooms in the damned country at the time.
So, now we're back to the comment you're responding to: even if it is genuinely just about Pulp Fiction, is that any better?
It's also a very Hacker News attitude, as you are witnessing in this thread.
I don't understand why people HN talk down about Reddit so much when it's really no better here, either.
Toys R Us still exists where I live (Canada). I admit I don't go in often outside of holiday shopping, but it's still the same Toys R Us it's always been, natural shifts in toy inventory notwithstanding, of course.
I'm not sure why you're riding for the predatory PE firms, here. "That's why they don't exist"? My brother in Christ, they still do - and still would if it weren't for this aggressive bullshit.
> were I to give a factual description of the childrens and teens sections, I would get banned by dang.
reeks of "I don't want LGBTQ representation in my library" or similar.
If I'm wrong, so be it. But the commenter isn't helping their own case.
This is remarkably naive. I wish you were right, but this sentiment isn't optimism; it's complacency.
Christ this website can be so full of insufferable pedantry. I don't know why people think that such comments are a good contribution.
Teaching is a whole complicated skill unto itself, especially if one is teaching to beginners. Like (since we're on HN), how easy is it to imagine someone very good at programming but would be a terrible choice as a Comp Sci 101 prof? I'm guessing "very."
The whole idea deeply undermines teachers of all subjects.
