Sounds unusual, but I've previously gotten very well paid jobs in multiple startups through this kind of personal networking - you even get to skip most of the interview process. Meanwhile everything I applied to without any connections has been a wash.
Negotiations are much easier if you can deal with working as a US contractor, dropping most of your employment protection laws for more money.
Perhaps they just don't care about security?
No one's saying you can't release closed source software - but of course other people are free to be afraid of running it as well.
I'm getting the impression ink jet is not the way to go due to the long pauses, but the color lasers are all seem very expensive for such occasional use.
For now, most of these tools are rather small wrappers around the original stable diffusion repo which is considered trustworthy, so there isn't that much to review.
Things I generally look out for are setup scripts that install unusual packages, any file or network io activity, code that's been obfuscated, instructions that have you download checkpoints from unofficial sources, etc.
Of course I can't know if I missed something...
Got sent to the gulag - well now you have a major problem. Can't post meme on reddit - oh no!
Websites generally aren't obligated to accept all users, precisely because we as a society decided that it's not really a big deal if you can't.
The closest you can get is renting servers with unmetered 1-10gbit connections and serving it yourself, but because you don't have the economy of scale that Cloudflare does, it will still be much more expensive than R2. You can't balance out your costs against those of hundreds of other customers that don't serve as much data, or against customers serving data at different times where your unmetered bandwidth would be wasted.
Starting up a service with pricing like R2 is only really possible at Cloudflare scale too, so it's not like it's possible for someone like us to see this gap in the market and... fix it?
Blocking people leads to them searching for ways around your block really quickly. Making them waste time not realizing they have been blocked, such as endless retries or shadow bans, is much more effective at making them stop bothering you for a while longer. Time spent doing this is time they can't spend being malicious on your platform.
It's unfortunate when a non-malicious user gets caught in one of these traps...
With Cloudflare R2, this will cost roughly $16. With upcloud, this will cost roughly $10,000.
You see how this can easily be the difference between a business being viable and... not?
