I'm on a phone, so I may have mistakes here, but I'm pretty sure that's shorter than your original text, in bytes, by about (9+18+20+21+12+12+16=108), minus the dictionary size of 51 -- so, 57 bytes shorter, but still containing your full text. With predistributed compressor binaries and a lot of analysis, you can even predistribute a global dictionary for common sequences, and simply specify "xyz0", x, y, and z being 24-bit numbers, or whatever bit size can index into your full reference dictionary, and 0 meaning end-of-file-dictonary. then, assuming the byte sequences in your text above are common enough to be in the 24-bit indexed dictionary, that initial dictionary could be just 22 bytes (21 and a terminator) -- so, 86 bytes shorter than the original, but still containing your original message unaltered. ..assuming i didn't make mistakes in my hand-compression.

You walk into a dark basketball court through a doorway with a single bright light above it. as you approach the free-throw line, you realize someone has left a basketball at center court. part of it is lit by the light of the doorway.

even though you are very drunk, you don't assume that spinning around will allow you to se more of the basketball than you currently do. even leaning left and right while looking at the ball doesn't give you much of a different view.

the sun is the door. the moon is the ball. you are a person looking at the ball from earth. leaning shifting left a step might give you a perspective that may correlate roughly with moon-at-dusk. shifting right a step might give you a perspective that is roughly moon-at-dawn.

leaning forward or backward, left or right, drunkenly, and spinning around might give you different angles (relative to the line drawn from your ass to your head) that the shiny-side of the basketball seems to be pointing. but you're just drunk. the shiny part of the basketball always points towards the light above the door. it is just your local perspective that is changing.

credit does provide a kind of flexibility that is sometimes needed, though. However, predatory lending, and the endless stacking of recursive loans, and government money printers are a massive stability issue that we're running into globally, and have (as you say) run into multiple times, historically.

My thought on this would be a dynamicaly stable currency. estimate debt and transaction activity, and the more debt and more liquid activity there is, the more deflationary currency should be. the less debt there is, and the less of a percentage of the money is actually in-use, the more inflationary the currency should be. this, though, is fairly off-the-cuff.

..and, you think that covers both individual and collective good?

..balance in all things. Neither being completely stingy, individually, nor being excessively spendy will benefit us, individually or collectively. ..but there are times for either.

I wonder if there's a way to quantify that and put a variable on the conditions, and have an inflationary/deflationary currencynthat is dynamically stable depending on conditions.

..i mean, individually, most people will eventually spend, if they have much saved and it benefits them to do so. but occasionally, we do need a kick in the pants. whenever the economynis in gridlock, that's the time for inflation. ..but when people are spending excessively, it's a time for deflation, which discourages taking on debt, and pushes the economy towards real wealth. rewarding long-term thinkers is valuable, and has a very broad effect on society.

I appreciate this. Though I'm not in agreement on all points, it is, in my opinion, thematically correct.

The role models people keep are all merely partial truths. They are, necessarily, an abstracted and partial view of the person or people underneath. Whether or not the universe is technically infinite, we are dealing in an informational reality that is effectively infinite.

No singular, static ideal can survive on its own in the face of change across an effectively ifinite domain. Ultimately, growth is learning how to let yourself be like "them", and honestly evaluate whether or not they are represemting some truth. That's easy to do with the things we all typically agree on, but much harder when it comes down to things like murder, or abuse.

The key is to not lose your own truth in the process - to come out of that process being someone you can actually love - or, comprehensively identify with.

In any case, it's hard to demonize anyone if you understand where they're coming from. ..and, yes, that means nobody is the perfect creature they think everyone should be. But if one doesn't undertake this process of growth on their own - to include, but not be limited to what others are - you will simply be exposed to it in reality, and have to deal with it anyways.

you cannot remove complex information dynamics from a reality you are founded in without losing the fundamental benefit of that foundation. I.e., you cannot remove the pain or strife from life. ..but, you can add to it new experiences and adaptions that make the whole thing worthwhile.

That's pretty pedantic. They were simply addressing one branch of the if, so their statement was relevant.
fizzbuzzbarbazz··on Making a Python interpreter in 1024 bytes
Good idea. Write a python script, and then code the minimal c interpreter possible to make that specific script work, utilizing the script itself as string reference (and any other way one can manage to utilize it in the interpreter itself).

I think it provides a necessary pointer to the idea that we will need more than prediction to make a viable general AI - that the prediction model is useful, but has fundamental limitations.

I think you misunderstood his question.

Given two files, a compressed file which must be uncompressed to play, and an uncompressed one which does not require extra processing - why would the game ever bother uncompressing te compressed file when the same data is already available uncompressed?

There's no true use case for that that I can see.
