feu··on AI Camera Ruins Soccer Game After Mistaking Referee's Bald Head for Ball
Yes, ODP is a role which requires more qualifications. It's a separate role from theatre support worker.

Theatre support worker would be one example of a healthcare role that doesn't require a degree. This is in the context of the UK NHS. I'm unsure if an equivalent role is common within the healthcare systems of other countries.

>The other parts of the UK set their own taxes.

That's not the case. Scotland is the only constituent country of the UK where powers to set income tax have been devolved. Income tax in Wales and Northern Ireland is still controlled by Westminster.

feu··on Ask HN: What's your quarantine side project?
I wouldn't recommend Vaadin. I worked on a work project using Vaadin 10+. Despite 10 and 14 being LTS releases they felt like they should still be in beta, my team ran into countless bugs. Vaadin didn't fix any of these bugs with any sense of urgency, even with a paid support contract (obviously less relevant for a side project). Working on that project almost made me leave the company, and the use of Vaadin was a significant factor in that.
feu··on Outbreak – playable simulations of a disease outbreak
I second this recommendation. I'm currently playing through Pathologic 2 for the first time. Playing through the game in the wider context of a pandemic makes for a very powerful experience.

How is this anything like the tech bubble when all of these big IPOs this year have cracked instantly and subsequently remained below their offering price?
feu··on Bulgaria is the world’s fastest-shrinking country
I haven't been to Bansko, but the food in Veliko Tarnovo and Ravda is great. The food in Sunny Beach was poor but I chalk that up to it being a resort area. I was lucky enough to enjoy a number of home-cooked meals as well, I really enjoyed every traditional dish I was served.
feu··on Bulgaria is the world’s fastest-shrinking country
Bulgaria also has amazing food and beaches in my opinion.

Just because a company has a policy does not mean that employees adhere to that policy.

Buckie is definitely sold south of the border. I've moved from Scotland to England and I see Buckie for sale in cornershops here with the same frequency I would in Scotland. Buckfast is made at an abbey in England, it doesn't originate in Scotland.

That's an incredibly bold claim.
feu··on Facebook is embedding tracking data inside the photos you download
The analogy doesn't hold. Unlike in the case of the car, if you send someone a file you are not deprived of use of the original.
